Re: Woodward Road Kill Drags - 08/11/19 02:59 PM

We raced there last year, not fast enough to have a chance of winning but was a good time meeting people in the pits

Re: Woodward Road Kill Drags - 08/11/19 05:24 PM

How fast do you have to be to have a chance ?
Posted By: DynoDave

Re: Woodward Road Kill Drags - 08/12/19 02:09 AM

We only caught the last few hours on Saturday, and there were large delays in the action while they ran (and paused to film) the Roadkill cars. We gave up and left the bleachers to see the rest of the event.

Look forward to seeing some of your pictures of the racing action.

Hemi-itis high tailed it outta there in a stolen '73 Dodge Coronet being that I got my Boys in the Purple gang after him.

Oh I forgot, he's probably still sleeping after 10 hours on the road and I did all the driving. LOL.

I can't begin to thank FMJ enough for draggin me along on this adventure bow bow
Wed we made a few stops in Ohio. When we got off the highway in Akron there was this parts vender we just had to stop at rolleyes

Then we went to an incredible resto shop that had like 8 cars that we were able to look at that were just so over the top! FMJ snapped a few there up

Than we went to Firecore Wires to visit Rick and pick up wire sets for our DDs. wave Great to see Rick as I have not seen him for a few years. thumbs

Stole that picture from Rick grin

Re: Woodward Road Kill Drags - 08/13/19 06:05 PM

Yeah, it seems like it was a long time ago already.
Freakin' New York City just sucks time outta anyone.

It was super cool to stop by Joe Rowe's Rod and Custom shop in Ohio. Those light weight A-990's and steel nose Hemi's were off the chain and only half way completed. Out of this world.

Of course, no one should stomp through Ohio without stopping in for a tune up at Rick's own Firecore establishment. It was on my bucket list to acquire a new set of wires, cap and rotor and it was also long overdue to see the man himself. He's such a gentleman and a great business owner.

Then it was off to the races in Detroit where my measly little 318 Econo engine morphed into a killer sounding 340 with the simple upgrade of a 2-1/4 stainless dual exhaust over at Gary's PF&E's exhaust shop in Chesterfield.

Thanks again Mr. Dudek for the hook ups.

I'll post some pics myself as soon as I get a NY minute.

Who are those guys?
Only the shadow of a doubt knows?

It was great to see the greats from Detroit. That includes you Doug and Scott.

Actually, all I did was twist the arm of the chef to give us all their best Lamb chops and shellfish or else. LOL

Doug was actually instrumental in getting the heads of state together under one roof and over one table. Thank you so much Doug. You are an ace.

Anyway, looks like an amazing trip, glad you guys made the best of the opportunity.

But in all seriousness, I nominate the both of yous to represent the greater NY area to take on the Mid West Maulers at next year's go. Besides, it would make a much better video than watching The Great Neck Charmer try to put the moves on the defending Champ... help

Re: Woodward Road Kill Drags - 08/20/19 01:34 AM

In all seriousness, I wish those Two Lane black Top lanes were a little more spacious. I mean, there were more than a few occasions where cars near traded paint with each other. There must be some odd reason why they can't move the Berlin walls onto of the outer edges of both curbs to reclaim a little over ten inches on each lane.

Perhaps its a visual thing for the the fans. Thing is, I don't want to make it a ritual thing to be banging all the way down.

Sheeeeeee, I've had more room here on the infamous Fountain Avenue with a gauntlet of a thousand spectators literally on the line.

We'll see.

Corner idlers sniffing for trouble.
Staging lanes had more real estate compared to the actual strip.

Heard the Mustang that went through the fence at the Amen corner got a citation from Royal Oaks finest. City property destroyed supposedly.

Had plenty of time to reflect on my trip to Detroit.I had a great time, finally was able to meet many people that I have only spoke to on several forums and I'm so thankful that I was able to check 1/2 that trip off my bucket list. I hope to return next year with my car for the drags and be able to participate in the actual cruise.Going back with 4 or 5 cars would be a great time as well. Gotta have goals! drive
