Milodon 31470 or equivalent?

Milodon 31470 or equivalent? - 07/15/19 04:10 PM

I believe it's time for a rear sump oil pan on my cuda. Must fit all stock front suspension.
Currently running a deep center sump style pan and single line static pickup. Will most likely go to dual lines and swinging pickup.
Looking at Milodon 31470, but it's 8.25" deep. Would like something shallower if possible.
I've been told Charlie's offered a pan that would fit my needs, but they're having business problems...currently for sale and people unhappy w/ recent pans from them.
Recommendations?

In the history of the world everybody wants a 10 qt Milodon pan that's 2" deep on their Hemi car. This is understandable. But reality is it's going to be deep. And you're going to scrape it a few times.

That milodon pan is a pavement scraper for sure on an e-body - you might want to call www.billetfab.com or www.stefsperformance.net - for a custom built pan

I run the the early B version of the Milodon pan on my 64 - its a good pan but its low - we chose that pan because simply because Charlies never came through with my pan and stopped returning phone calls

Whats wrong with a center sump??

I have a 440 source 7" steel pan... drilled a hole for a static pick up, made a lot better baffle and welded thiers solid all the way around.

I have the 440 source aluminum pan that I drilled the hole for the external pickup in. I may or may not have an oil starvation issue...not sure at this point. Just trying to get a game plan together if that turns out to be the issue. Just got the motor out yesterday afternoon.
It's been fine for years, but now the car is a lot faster and doing much longer and higher wheelstands, my thought was that the pan may be an issue.

Why is there a cute kid sitting on the engine? LOL

any way, I hear what you saying. Ive been plenty of 1.2X 60 for years and multiple engines with center sump pans after I smashed my rear sump twice...I fixed it once, but the second time it was BENT.
Knock on wood, I haven't had an issue yet. If you can get a decent welder in your area. maybe just lengthen your sump rearwards and get a static or swinging pick up in there.
IF you look at some of the pans they are using in SS/AH they are real nice, short and full sumped. I bet they are expensive too, but what is NICE usually is...
Good luck

I love my Milidon road race pan. I run a single line static pickup. It has a big line coming out the rear. It was some modding but I like it. But I have hurt one from a wheelie.

I'm using that 440 source oil pan with a Milodon dual oil line external pump and swing pickup on my 440/500

Milo & Don said the dual line feed provides more volume for motors over 800hp or was it 1000hp...anyway maybe try dual oil line feed on that Hemi?
