Aluminum Main Caps ?

i'm thinking of doing aluminum main caps on my 440/493 stroker, chasing 700-750 hp. what are the real world advantages, if any. it was suggested to do ali caps and timing belt to help with block damaging harmonics.
BCR and 440 sourse both do ali caps and both claim theirs are the ducks nuts.
any advice on this much appreciated. car will see mainly strip duty. TIA

Re 440 Source vs BCR... I don't know that's even a valid comparison. I would have used BCR caps had they been available when my block work was done. If someone gave me that other brand's cap kit, they would still be in the box on my parts shelf.

The 440Source caps are not machined to the proper bore size for RB's, they're made for low deck blocks. So unless you're a machinist you'll spend more on those and subsequent machining than you would buying BCR's in the first place.

I have the BCR aluminum caps and girdle. It is a nice setup, with all the hardware.
Shop around for machine work of fitting the caps to the block. Places I called were all over the place on cost, and not all shops can perform the work.
The BCR caps are designed to be used with their girdle kit. The 1/2" thick girdle will require a bit of extra work setting up the oil pickup tube if using the internal oil pickup.

I have owned both, and hands down the BCR setup with girdle was a much nicer piece. That is they way I would go.

the biggest difference between our caps and the 440 source aluminum caps, is that ours are machined here in Michigan, and are backed and supported by a Michigan company. also all of our material comes from ohio, I could drive down and touch and see where its made if I wanted to. there is a lot to be said for usa made quality materials.

I have several different race motors and pump gas street motors with the 440 Source caps on them, both low deck and high deck motors, with no girdles and no problems so far
I have a customers motor in the shop now that has the original BCR cap and girdle and it looks a lot nicer on the polished caps, if that matters to you
I'm not a fan of using steel bolt on main girdles or any other type of girdles on Mopar BB The girdles will not stop the main webbing from cracking
I use to only use the ductile iron main cap kits form Mopar but when they stop offering them I had to switch to another type
