Trick Flow 270's - 06/29/19 03:41 PM

I'm debating on whether to order the TrickFlow 240's or the 270's with the Max wedge intake port. I have a set of mild CNC'd Edelbrocks on my 496 at the moment and they seem to do fine, but as always...there's always room for improvement..Right??!! So...if I'm on the right page here, I'm presuming that I would no longer be using the stock type intake gasket but would be going to a valley plate and paper gaskets.....and would it make any sense to take my Victor and port match it to the heads, or is there another manifold that I can still use and retain a 4150 style carb. I don't want to use a dominator if possible as I do some street driving too.

I have use the Indy brand M.W. size intakes with both 4150 and 4500 type carbs, if your running a high deck motor the 440-2 intake is the part # for the 4150 type carbs, 440-3 for the Dominator flange carbs up 400-2 and 400-3 for the low deck motors.
BTW I have used and liked the 4500 type carbs on the street after some tuning on them, they work great work up scope
in todays world of custom built carbs and the increased competition to Holley there are many good choices on a new bigger carb, more airflow and fuel= More power in every BB Mopar I've tuned and drivendevil

Well my 505 with OOTB 270's made 713 hp 707 torque with a 4150 950 cfm carb and a Dwayne Porter roller cam. Mopar 337 intake (no valley pan) - needed small adapters on the ends to make fit.

Not in the car yet but it will be street driven.

There are not a lot of choices for MW ports with a 4150 carb. The MP 337 is a good intake but hard to find. The Indy 440-2 is taller and works okay in cast form but it isn't great. Some port matching is usually required to get it to work. If you're shooting for less than 700 hp then I'd go with the 240 heads. If you want to make more than 700 hp then the 270 heads will help you get there. If you want to keep your Victor intake then you need to keep the 240 heads.

We had a pump gas 505 on the dyno recently that made almost exactly the same power. It has TF 270 heads with a port matched Indy 440-2 intake and a Holley Sniper. That engine had a Comp street roller cam in it and 2 inch dyno headers. Nice strong engine that is going into a 1969 RoadRunner. Should be a fierce combo on the street.

The 270s will / should simply make more power . If you have enough motor .
I have been running my 270s for just over 12 months . Daily driver monthly bracket racing .
I swapped from Stealth cnc to the 270 , same Super Victor intake . Picked up a hair over 0.25 seconds and around 2-3 mph .
More than happy
Went 10.28 last weekend @ 3775lbs
All with a solid flat tappet cam

Thanks Andy. I'm starting to think the 240's would be sufficient too. What's your take on Bullet Cams?? Solid flat tappet in the .600 lift range.

Why couldn't you port the victor intake for the 270 heads?
