Which Intake manifold for a mild 440? - 05/14/19 02:35 AM

Which intake manifold would be a better choice for a relatively mildly built, street driven 440 with a 750 cfm carb, an Edelbrock CH4B or a Performer RPM?

iagree If you need more hood clearance, the Holley Street Dominator is a good bit shorter, but performs almost identically to the Performer RPM.

As said do the math on the heights you have cuz the RPM is very tall. Otherwise any used/cheap dual plane will work fine.

I concur if lack of hood clearance, use the Street Dominator, otherwise Performer RPM. I actually use both right now on 2 of my mild 440's.

I'm a big fan of the Holley Street Dominator!

I'm back to running a flat hood and really like the way it fits and performs.

Of the two? The one you already own. If you don't already own one, use the other advice that makes you happiest.

“Mild 440” isn’t enough of a description for me to lean in one direction or another with regards to choosing an intake manifold...... other than to assume a Super Victor, TF, Team G, or other similar type of intakes wouldn’t be the best choice if the motor is in fact “mild”.

What it’s going in, and how it will be used should also be part of the conversation.

FWIW, the Perf RPM on a 440 fits fine under an early-B hood using a drop-base air cleaner & Holley carb.

penguin for a mild street car, thats prob the best advice right there! Or, you can read Andys intake manifold comparo article, which also has some good info.
