Aluminum Radiator / Fan Questions- 73 Dart Small Block - 03/04/19 06:45 PM

Finishing a mild street strip 73 Dart with a 360 small block. Looking for a drop in aluminum radiator that would have some room for growth for down the road when I can put a hotter motor in this thing. Current motor dynoed 375hp. What do you guys like for a radiator? I was planning on running a mechanical fan set up....Is that the thing to do or just go electric? Shroud? Thanks in advance

Finding one to fit will be easier with the later A body.
I would go aluminum for sure , cross flow is a plus , and which ever fan you use , a shroud is your friend.
I had the Chevrolet SSR electric on mine and it worked well.......it has the shroud built in , but you have to be creative in mounting it.
I am now adding to the mess on the front of the motor , so it is now too thick and I will be looking at other options.

The Dodge Intrepid fan is a decent option. I have a Mezziere pump and it fits between the two fans(after a little hacking), they have a decent shroud built in but you have to get creative to cover the whole rad with it.

Champion 26" with a stock mech fan & adapted fan shroud from Speedway kept my 512" Duster cool no matter what; never hit 190. One key to that was I sped up the water pump & fan with a slightly smaller pulley.
I didn't need to spin that thing over 6,000; on my SB 368" squeak-motor real race car that sees 7500-8000, I run an electric fan on a Griffon 22".

Thank you for the responses....much appreciated.

Additional info:

A 26" wide radiator is the direction I was hoping to go....

Car is a 904 auto with Dynamic Trans and 9.5 Converter....Planning on running a seperate transmission cooler from radiator ( a large B & M Supercooler)

Car is a small block

Radiator will need inlet / outlet locations suitable for small block LA 360

"Universal Chevy" application uses the same Mopar hose locations I have.
I forgot to mention that on the 512" car, that 26" radiator was partially blocked by the sides of the radiator support, but it didn't matter. The Champion design isn't the most elegant tank design, but it works well.

I am shopping for a radiator now.....there are a lot of direct fit options out there , none of which work for my deal.
But minimal searching will turn up a lot of choices.
I have my eye on a Griffin from Jegs , but I am not set on any one yet.
Sorry.......I linked to the wrong one.
Try this.
