360 cast crank

Any input on using an OEM 360 cast crank in a upper 500HP low 600HP 7500RPM at the stripe bracket motor. H beam rod with 500 gram piston.

They can withstand 600HP at about 6800. The big question is how many duty cycles has the crank been subjected, 15,000, 40,75,100,000 miles.360 motors walk at rpm's over 6800. Many will say 7,7.8K. Its all relative. Easy bracket motor no problem. Sounds like a high end motor. Go forged. Cheaper in the long run.

I ran one up there for a few hundred runs with good rods in the engine. No problems with the crank. The main caps and the oil system was a different story. My experience is the oil system needs some pretty involved modifications to keep the rod bearings in it. And you don't want to detonate it. To go from 6500 to 7500 is a BIG difference in them.

No way I'd run one at that HP/RPM. You might get away with it for a little while but you're going to spend some decent $$ to get there anyway so a forged crank is cheap insurance.

I run a stock cast 360 crank in my stock eliminator motor that makes 450 hp and goes thru the traps at 7100. I have 225 runs on it. Never a problem and the bearings always look like they are brand new.

Low 10's @ 3200 pounds is very doable and easy 9's in a light combo with a stock 360 crank. I'm not real sure why you want to shift at 7500 whens its NOT necessary but to each his own.

Current engine combo runs 126 @ 7000 to 7100. New engine should run 130. The block has all the oil system mods to keep it happy. Think I'm going with a SCAT forged unit.

I cant speak to the RPM part, but from a pure hp strength standpoint they are very strong. Mine has made between 700-850hp (depending on boost) on a stock unturned crank for the last 6 years or so. Never been over 6500rpm though. I'd guess it has 300 runs or so on it? I've detonated it bad enough at times learning to tune that its eaten two sets of pistons sling the way.

These cranks with the big 360 main and short stroke are pretty damn strong.

Your current combo runs real well for a build with spare parts.

I just tossed some 360 cast cranks into the recycle bin. They were std/std but nobody around here was interested in buying them. They look beefy enough to use in a performance engine but I suppose if I was building an engine for racing I'd start with a nice new forged crank.

Though not over 6500rpm, Dizusters stock 360 block and crank has lived at well over 800Hp for years.
