Gen2 hemi crate motors maybe?

Re: What is Mopar teasing us with for SEMA? - 10/25/18 05:09 PM

Ah....It's probably going to be 426 Gen III.

Which is really awesome, considering we were at 440CI with some pre-production Apache heads back in 2010 laugh

Re-release of Gen II Hemi block and crate engines? Lots of people waiting for them! Ever heard of the Gen III Hemi refered to as an "Elephant Motor "?

Re: What is Mopar teasing us with for SEMA? - 10/25/18 05:47 PM

I vote for a gen II block with a radically raised cam and GenIII type heads enlarged to match, capable of 600 cubesšŸ˜€

Look at that front fender ends and doors.I vote a certain rendition of the 69' Charger body with a 426 Get III engine.

This is the Apex boys and girls.

My fingers are crossed. They do have a machining facility lined up out in Fowlerville MI. No reports on the facility's quality or volume capability yet. I may not be able to find that kind of stuff out anymore but will not stop digging.

It's a shame but the folks in charge these days don't seem to give a rat's heiney about anything much older than 2010. I wouldn't really expect any of 'em to have a clue about 1960s magazine slang but maybe JR Thompson (decades long marketing company) is really on the ball these days and pushing them towards what they should be doing.

When questioned about the total lack of intake manifolds, ignition controllers and so on, a recent response from someone up the ladder was "How old are the vehicles these products are used on? Do you own a computer? Do you still use a rotary telephone?"

Sorry if my attitude is bad LOL. I'll keep the faith and fly the flag regardless but haven't heard anything confidence inspiring lately.

My response to that would have been, ā€œwhat vehicles do you think people buying these crate motors are putting them inā€?

Seems like a little disconnect there.

Frankly, Iā€™d be totally shocked if the big announcement had anything to do with a gen2.

Notice how they licensed Proform, and then killed the distributors, too. It sends a message. Somebody must have decided you make more money from licensing.

I like your thinking but we might as well go 5.3 bore spacing as well for 800 cubes

I heard they are releasing another run of Super Stock Springs. Buy a set and get a free pinion snubber and a cd on setting pinion angles.

But "Bear" anything has nothing to do with the paw prints in the vid.
It's DEFINATELY Elephant related, at that means only one thing in the Mopar world.

Re: What is Mopar teasing us with for SEMA? - 10/25/18 10:35 PM

I think that is a bear print sunken into a sunken in elephant print.

Big inch (426) supercharged Gen III is my guess, labeled Bearcat.

Like it or not Hellcat is now part of the Mopar legend.

Can anyone answer if it was Grumman that Ma Mopar colluded with on the 500/Daytona/Superbird aero cars? At least for the wind tunnel stuff?

Yeah. Mine's some sorta tape..but not VHS; *thinks a bit* It's BetaMax! Misled again! *sigh*

Joking aside, I might be tempted by a Gen 3 crate at 426 CI. It would have to tick all right boxes for me, and that doesn't seem likely.

Re: What is Mopar teasing us with for SEMA? - 10/25/18 11:50 PM

I guess whatever it is, the symbolism of it stepping on the Hellcat paw prints alludes to it being the new "king of the jungle".

Re: What is Mopar teasing us with for SEMA? - 10/26/18 04:37 AM

Now thats funny! 426 Gen III crate hemi is my guess. Make it a reasonable price, make much more HP than the 6.4 392 (hopefully 550-600 + hp on pump gas) and they will sell.

Re: What is Mopar teasing us with for SEMA? - 10/26/18 01:23 PM

I'm sure it's Gen 3 related. In todays age, as hallowed the Gen 2 Hemi is, it's antiquated for the buyers they are appealing to today. Look how many people are yanking perfectly good engines out of their older hot rods and are going Gen 3 Hemis. Everywhere you look in social medial, someone is putting a Hellcat motor in something.

I totally agree with this and think the Gen III is a way better engine but I think they are trying to tie the two together though marketing. There are still alot of people who want Gen II Hemi's. Myself NOT included! Lol.

It's still probably Gen III regardless of the Elephant.

I agree that would be great, but it would put the price point through the roof? On the other hand, offer heads in 5.3, since pockets that deep could probably adapt them to a "Generic" big bore block

I did not know that is who did these ads, but between them and FCA they are the masters of hype.

The interest they stirred up over the Demon was incredible.

Maybe these will come with a "Hellephant trumpet horn" ala the old Road Runners.

Clearly , you're not from a marketing background.
You probably place value on things like history and tradition.
Remember , these are probably the same people who had them putting R/T badges on Neons.
If they can't monetize tradition , then it isn't worth remembering.
I don't have much problem with the " hellephant " bit , but I was hauling new cars during those dark days when the Neon was being touted as a performance car. LOL
