Cam choice - 10/18/18 04:13 AM

Hey guys Im after your opinion on this cam.

First the car is my 90% street 71 Barracuda, engine is 528, 12.5-1, max port indy heads and single dominator or I can have my indy tunnel on it. 5000 convertor and 3.7 gears.

What happen is it shat a roller lifter so I have one lobe that is no good.

Cam was a UltraDyne 285 / 290, 112 lobe sep, 725 lift with my 1.6 rockers.

Been offered another cam locally for a cheap price that is a Crane R2864468-8 , 280@50 108 lobe sep, and same lift.

Should be OK ???

Thanks

I would do that swap that in a New York minute up
More bottom end and less high RPM power, why not work up twocents
I would advance the Crane cam so it would be installed at 103 to 105 degrees after top dead center on the intake lobes at max lift up scope
Both cams are bigger than what I would buy and use for any street car that I built and or drove, but with your deal the Crane should be better up

Doesn't the R286 mean it's 286 @ .050? and 446.8 is the lobe lift? work So, pretty similar to the cam you have now but a tighter LSA.
Neither is exactly what most people use for a "90% street" cam wink

The 108 will make the piston to valve tighter. Check it if it was close before.
