Holley metering blocks - 09/24/18 07:17 PM

I saw a post on here a while ago about metering blocks deteriorating. my carb started leaking so I took it apart to check it out this is what I found. If you touch anything in there at crumbles to dust.
Funny thing is I was driving this car a couple weeks ago. Guess I need some new metering blocks...

The carb is an AED HO1000. I have some new billet metering plates on the way. AED said it was the ethanol, and crappy castings. They said that's why they use billet now.....

Wow that could turn ugly if it sprung a leak on a hot motor

Holley did have a known bad batch several years back. Contact them. Maybe they will warranty them & send you some new blocks.

Yeah, zinc pest. It doesn't have anything to do with Ethanol it has to do with the zinc alloy not being correct. Someone at the foundry screwed up. Holley usually warranties this stuff, not sure about AED.

This is a hassle for carb guys but people who collect stuff made of zinc live in fear of zinc pest. Their entire collection of toys could turn into dust if they buy the wrong batch of stuff.
