Milodon feed hits the steering bracket

Milodon feed hits the steering bracket - 09/18/18 12:50 AM

My steering is in contact with the feed line. I'm going to take the engine back out again. Do you guys have a nice way to accomplish this.

Thanks.......Ted

Which Milidon pump top cover are you trying to use, top feed or rear feed?
EDITED, what year and body style are you working on also?

If you can't tuck it between the box and the panrail, I've seen them wrapped under the K frame without issue.

What is your setup that you need external lines? I sent my kit back after fighting fitment for a week.

That has been an issue for at least the last 30 years. Some guys use a motor plate and cut away the factory motor mounts to free up some space. I've seen various modifications to the K frame in the area of the steering box to provide room for the external oiling systems. A body cars require more work in that area than B or E body cars.

This is in an E Body and I'm using the sandwich plate. I found that a bulkhead 90 degree fitting into the pump cover was the shortest way out. And then both lines go up and then loop down between the damper and the oil filter. I had the engine in and out several times before I had removed just enough from the steering box support plate. The sandwich plate is a poor solution. At least the pump cover is one piece (no green gasket). I've been running this for ~5 years no with no oiling issues. I did train the curve on that top SS hose when I bent it into that tight radius. I had it squished between two parallel steel plates with c-clamps as I bent it to make sure it didn't collapse. I left it in the squish jig for a couple of days before I released it and made the final connection. I suppose that I should mount a GoPro in there to see if it collapses at high RPM but the hose is really stiff at the bend so I feel comfortable with the solution.

I should have told you this. I have a 72 Demon and I'm running the cover from Milodon with oil supply in the rear.
I have ground on the steering box to clear but it exposed the where two pieces meet.
I'm going to pull the motor then its much easier to get at.
