Need a windshield for my 65 Plymouth Belvedere. I heard some were thinner and lighter. I think AMD sells the thicker one. Who sells the lighter one? TIA

I bought a generic one from the local auto glass place. Cheap like $165. But it wasn't any thinner. My bet is there is only 1 generic supplier. All my sides and backlight are standard 1/8" Lexan. Still pretty god after 6 years of use.

PPG & Pilkington are the 2 largest glass makers I know of. Of those 2, the Pilkington stuff MAY be thinner; but we had the occasional fit problems with their stuff when I was in the collision repair business, usually external dimensions.
The light stuff is a polycarbonate aftermarket deal, last I checked it was over $500 for a Duster windshield, but they were really nice and quite light. Can't recall the name, though.

You'll regret using a plastic windshield. I've talked to my glass guy (for cabinet work) who says he can make all the side glass in 1/8 tempered. Maybe even the back glass even being a little curved. I thinkng a greater weight savings than the ws.

All of the china imports don't break like the american glass. They tend to stay in longer pieces as opposed to the little chunks. They are also prone to chipping and breaking with impact. Lexan is tough to see through when the sun hits it. Every bulls-eye comes alive. Bad when staging.

Mine has been in there 20yrs. The only problem I've ever had was at times when the humidity at night is really bad, it wants to start fogging up.

Have had a bubble Lexan windshield on my 65' for years. No issues. Just gotta clean it with care.

Do not use any Chinese glass! You are way better off with a Pilkington.

Buy yourself one of those small cube heaters and let it run inside the car on low. This helps a lot.
