Mopars at the Rock, KOS results and some pics - 04/02/18 09:25 PM

Great turnout on Saturday, best in several years I'd say. Had a great time! 6 cars showed up to run the KOS small tire shootut. Myself, Lenny Melton w/ his new Hellcat powered Challenger, Scott Cheek w/ his blue Dart, Leon Hudson and his well known cuda, Sheila Bowman in the ex Roger Laudy KOS Duster now sporting blown hemi power, and a (forgive me, didn't get his name) young guy w/ a quick nitrous big block C body.
The track was decent early on, but got worse as the day went. I was fighting traction issues...first time using the transbrake on my cuda. Switched to slicks, but still had problems.
Rd. 1 was me vs. Lenny...I won.
Scott got the bye due to Sheila breaking something in time trials.
Leon ran on motor and beat the big C body.

Rd. 2 was Leon w/ the bye.
I tried to run w/ Scott's Dart, but got gapped, lol.

Final was Leon vs. Scott. Leon won on a holeshot.

Here's a pic in the lanes prior to time run 1.

It's a N/T race. I won't give out times on the others, but it's no secret what mine runs. When it hooks it has been high 8s/mid 5s...but I wasn't hooking Saturday.

1/8 mile, heads up, pro tree
steel roof and 1/4s
no tube chassis cars
any rear suspension
wheelie bars allowed
any front suspension, but no struts, K member must be in stock location
stock front frame rails
stock firewall
any power adder
29.5x10.5 max rear tire, or 315 max radial
no weights

Yes. Works good, went on the bumper w/ the 275 pros a couple years ago. The little 275-60 looks like crap on my car though. Too small, so I went back to the 295-65. I bought another pair of rims to keep the 29.5x10.5 stiff sidewall slicks on for occasions just like this...when the track isn't very radial friendly. At least for my car...it still needs a lot of suspension tuning and/or Cope's 2nd gear transbrake VB.

Here is your footbrake winner and overall bracket runner up...they ran the footbrake winner against the pro winner at the end of the day.
Mr. Marion Cox and his '69 road runner. Running in the 6.30s all day.
