I miss his posts, and seeing him at Drag Week. Monte always took the time to answer my dumb questions, and gave sound advice.

I never knew him but a lot of people on here did. It is good to see the Street Outlaw boys still representing his name on the windows with his decals....

RIP buddy!

"billet or zip ties it will work the same"

That was his answer when I asked him who make the nicest solenoid brackets for the 4150 base.

Hey, zip ties are the lightest option, right?

Re: It's been a year since we lost Monte - 03/09/18 06:37 PM

IIRC, he had one child, a daughter, w/ his ex-wife. I don't recall what other family he had left. It was definitely a loss of vast experience & knowledge when he passed.

Anyone know if there was an estate sale for all his "toys" & projects? For example, where'd his legendary GTX end up? That thought occurred to me when I saw this post about it being a year already.

Re: It's been a year since we lost Monte - 03/12/18 06:47 PM

When I bought my heads up car Monte was the first person I contacted about a nitrous system. I told him I did my own engine and head work and he said that would never work. He suggested I send my shortblock to this guy and my heads to this guy and again I told him I’m a budget racer that enjoys doing his own work. After a couple more messages back and forth I decided to go a different route. In hindsight I made the right decision but I still have his messages saved. He was a very smart man that didn’t have to talk over your head to prove he was smart. I could never understand how he left his car sit for all those years and never brought it back out.

Re: It's been a year since we lost Monte - 03/12/18 07:16 PM

The GTX never came back out, because it was being completely redone. Monte spent a lot of time taking care of his parents, his daughter, and time just wasn't on his side to get the car back out. Add in a heart attack, and quadruple bypass... Life just gets in the way sometimes.

The GTX was supposed to go the Chris Terry to be finished about the time of Monte's passing.

There is a utube post by Monza of street outlaws. He is going turbo. Monte was his go to guy to make HP and have a competitive car. That's a tribute to Monte.
