Congratulations. Hey when you get it I donβt know what oil pan you are going to use but my Charlies oil pan had a wide flange on it and the main studs on number 5 main Cap were holding it up off the block. It took me awhile to search that one out. I also had to clearance to be block for pushrod clearance on my combo.

Hope they keep the flow of blocks coming, heck I might even consider building a new engine.
That block looks nice

So these things come with no water pump passages bored out?
Looks nice. You've got that baby in the right hands over at BEST MACHINE. If they can't fix it, prepare it for duty and have it make the most power, no one can.

Wow, they look nice. Some newer differences I see from my 2 older KB blocks that I have.

A no water block does not help most of us. Glad your happy, though.

They come with water jackets guys. Greg's (the pictures) is solid by request. His is kinda a one off deal.

If I'm not mistaken, it's just one of the pay back blocks. No one else has posted here even though I'm pretty sure there have been more.

Looks like a low deck solid block.

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 02/28/18 06:36 PM
Yes this is an owed block guys, its been a very long time. It is a low deck solid block 4.5" bore. I paid in full over two years ago and The new owners did get my block finished for me. It will be an Injected alky deal in a front engine dragster is why I went with a solid block. I talked to Chuck at best this am. He is installing lifter bushings and cam bearings before it gets shipped to me. I just wanted to share pictures to show things are happening.

I also see that since this is a special dry solid block, that screw in freeze plugs are not needed, unless those small tapped holes are the plugs themselves.
Glad that you received your special block Wedgefed and that it is in the hands of Chuck and Pete.

Not yet. Hopefully soon.
You should start a thread to document your engine build and dragster.

Over $7000 and two years, not a good deal at all.

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/06/18 03:22 PM
Maybe I am missing something here, as I see some of this as a negative. Since the cost of these is much more than Indy, why won't Indy raise their price $500-1000, and still be competitive with this block?
That isn't helping some........

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/06/18 03:41 PM
Maybe because Indy realizes for that price you could get a custom machined billet BAE block.

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/06/18 04:08 PM
Indy now charges 5500 for the base engine block PLUS any options on top of that.KB has more standard features. Anybody caring can send me an email and I will send you more info on both blocks. moparts@ptmc.net

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/06/18 04:38 PM
So, they have already raised the price?
Is this a case where competition went in the wrong direction?

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/06/18 06:02 PM
Indy and KB are really the only viable sources for almost ANY aftermarket BB/Hemi blocks at the moment. Yes others are trying but when you are the only game in town you can name your price so to speak. The block in this thread also had some "extra" stuff that is not normal and was extra cost as well. It also might just be the most expensive BB Mopar block ever made if the truth were ever told. Unique situation to be very sure.
Glad the owner will finally, soon be united with his new block.

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/06/18 06:49 PM
.....and not to mention that it is in the hands of some folk that will burn, cut and hone away all of its quirks to make it a mean motha.
It seems the effort at KB has a pulse. It will just be a long recovery.

I'm just trying to find a couple of screw in O'ring freeze plugs for a KB Block.
Its like mission impossible. Any one know a source??

If they hadn't unplugged KB's phone you could call and get some. Call Todd and maybe he knows how to get some.

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/07/18 06:33 AM
My, not that special Indy block, from a prominent east coast engine builder was well over 7k by the time it was done. And that was 2 years ago. I'd be curious to know his " ready to assemble" price. The Indy block can't handle the power the KB block could.

What is the power limit on those indy blocks?

Re: KB block pics from best machine. - 03/07/18 08:09 PM
The price of the block along with the dedicated heads studs comes to over 8K. Depending on finish work, especially if lifter bushings are utilized, I'd imagine around 9k.

It's at Best Machine because Best Machine has the contract to finish the blocks. That was posted here several weeks ago.

To control the amount of oil to the top end, push rod oiling to the rockers.

What is the power limit on those indy blocks?
I'm going to try to throw something like 2,200-2,400 HP at a Indy block this year. My tuner say it should be OK if I don't do anything stupid with the tune......I'll let you know if it lives this fall
