I'm heading back to the track and decided to just change the alt, 2nd battery and Shiloh's rear Viking DA shocks.........Last time I went a 1.40 60, 6.15 1/8 th @ 112.05 so I predict a 1.31 60 ft, 6.05 1/8th @ 113+.............

6.0s for a car you drive alot is impressive for sure, be safe and try for a vid if you can.

First pass - your shocks are too tight and you blow the tires off

Second pass - your shocks are too loose and you blow the tires off

Third pass - never happens, 'cuz some bonehead in an over-built 2002 WRX grenades his engine at the 330 mark and the track crew can't get the oil up in time before curfew

If you get it to hook with the new untested shocks on Your car, I think your predictions are right. Should of left that second batt out chicken...

Hows the DA forecast for the night?? A ET chaser should Always know that before he goes out to get the number.

His current 112 MPH isn't close enough to get into the 5.99 ET Its a indicator of potential, he would want around 115/116 mph for a sub 6 sec. But Hes going to be close.

Ya it makes some pretty good steam for a slip n slide powerglide. Best 60 foot so far was a 1.25

Well, that didn't go as planned at ALL.......... First pass I left in 2nd gear, second pass felt horrible so took it into 2nd then lifted and last pass felt good so my dumb azz stayed in it and I heard I went(threw the time slips in the trash)a 1.37 60,no 330 clock and another 6.15 at 111 something............Personally, even though I suck at drag racing, I think the QTP's are not the ticket at my power level and old azz M/T 28X10.5 w's went an easy 1.33 60. last year footin to 2500. Shiloh said I staged deep and even red lit but apparently pulled the fronts a foot plus but that didn't help and I need lots of seat time that I haven't seen in years..........I wish I could of ran as good as some of you and I predicted so maybe some day after new tires and whatever else it needs, I can meet my goal.............Still, a bad day/night at the track is way better than a day doin stuff we don't like and I met some cool people as always and got to see and smell some american muscle............

Thump ...I remember you pulling weight out of the car,what was the final #'s for this? Plus I see your using a different shocks.

Keep working at it Dom, you'll get there. Last time out my car was on the run to get the 6.3x I've been wanting and the fuel pump locked up at about 450' . Looking at the 330' numbers if it hadn't picked up any in the back half it would've ran 6.33. I'll get it this year.

Give us an eval. On the shocks

I think with just three passes it will be impossible to say good or bad.

Dom - I would plan another outing when you can expect to get lots of passes (10+ in my book) so you can get into your race groove and try some adjustments. You know those numbers are there, just need time to find them! PS - I have an awesome dominator you can borrow :}

Thankxxx guys and maybe I can make the Famoso T&T on the 17th of this month and figure some stuff out so time will tell.............I had a bad feeling yesterday before we left and didn't even want to go but went anyhow and I want to thank Shiloh for his help and maybe he'll chime in w/what he saw my goofy azz do...............

Greg, I appreciate the offer and if you were here maybe we could do something but if you need carb help just call me and I'll see if I can help ya out...........As far as the shock working, apparently they did their job and they felt nice n smooth not violent like before w/the Ranchos................peace!

Dom I think you just need some seat time and laps. Hard to get anything dialed in with only a couple hits. Fontana has TNT's occasionally might be worth the trip. Just need some time to make some laps and try some stuff. You will find it harder and harder to find improvements the fast you go.

I agree Al and have to focus only on the 60 and 330 THEN let er rip knowing the low numbers are in line...........

Dom, i was thinking of someone local to you. Someone known for good suspension tuning skills, well above my meager knowledge! I'm a loooong ways away this year !

Was a typical Irwindale night.. 200 street cars. 15 cars with slicks.. I think you did well getting a hold of the track on the last pass... I definitely think you were in deep on the last pass..which definitely scrubbed a couple hun.. all in all car sounded amazing.. and me being one of the normal Dodge guys out there.. I will tell you people took noticed and we're asking questions about your ride. I played that game for a couple years at Irwindale.. run 6:40 and the last pass let it have it.. that technique almost never work for me.. cuz at the end of the day Irwindale is only a street legal test and tune mostly non prepped track built in the parking lot..

I hear ya Shiloh and really appreciate your help, all the good people who came by my pit and just being in that environment so maybe we can hang at Famoso in a few weeks and I hope your sister and car are ok...........

Ya, I removed the 2nd battery but put it back for these tests but as SPORT440 suggested, maybe the new shocks didn't need the ballast after all.........lots to do to get ready for what may be my last pass till my car is 100% legal..........

Dom, you can still be proud of all your accomplishments with that car. A street car with no power adders, yur flyin.

and I agree with you on the 6.0, it's there, just got to find it and seat time will help you do that, I am planning a season of tunin' on mine now that I have put few runs on it last year and a couple of small refinememnts this winter, now it all up to the weather.

Hey Dom, I was in the tower watching your first run. Maybe you have your crew put you in the middle of the water box purposely, I prefer to roll through the box and a foot or two to not throw up water. My 10 cents.

This is great advice. With all the rest of the stuff you have to think about, most people don't think about this. Lots of water gets thrown up in the wheel well and then drips back on to the tire. That can cost you at least a tenth depending on how wet your track keeps their water box. It's all the little stuff that adds up.

Dom. You know the car is there, it's just gonna take some seat time and relaxed mentality to get it on the board. Glad it was a learning curve of a day for you.
Sometimes the track gets us to do silly things where as the street seems more calm razor sharp. Go figure.
As far as front lift, I'd like to see that pup lift just an inch and not more and scoot straight out. The suspension game will garner that as well.

Haven't weighed it in a few years and will soon but guessing 3050+ lbs w/me fueled up....... My friend said the announcer said I went 6.13 on my last pass can anyone verify that? This track is like racing on a black top covered dirt road so maybe Famoso will show promise if I can make it...........

After I ring this out to it's max potential then a new rotating assembly and Max-Wedge heads are something I'd like to do............

Take it to the MATS and enter the small tire shootout. You can get plenty of hits on the track then and run it in the shootout deal. I know a guy who could provide accommodations....

I'd consider that Al and ya never know but my real goal is a 6.0 anything then pretty sure I'm done for a long time after that...........

probably your best bet racing quarter mile tracks but only running the car hard to the 1/8

I too was hoping for a new record run report but, I know it's just a matter of time for that. Just keep your mind to it and it will happen shortly Dom.

Time will tell and if I got paid for all of the dumb stuff I do/did, I'd be a wealthy man and this outing was no different..........Still ran what OTHERS thought was good but no where good enuff for me so one more shot then done till caged IF I even go that route. Remember, THUMPER is my test bed for carbs so if/when it breaks, I'm screwed............
