14-71 roots blower, GRP aluminum rods, Stage V custom heads 7000rpm max. Think it will hold together? I would probably need max hp at 1300. Car is built for 8.5 so......... and no desire to go faster.

I’ll gladly test it for you.

I built a blown Methanol 1700 HP HEMI with a World aluminum water block and it failed. There are some weak points that probably limit the max HP to about 1300.

Only need 1000 HP to go 8.50

Car will be around 3200-3300lbs plus my 230lbs which shows 1300hp. Have not had a chance to weigh it yet.

If you want to run 8.50 the car better be certified to 7.50 which adds MORE weight to the car if it isn't already up to spec. Gotta be able to cover the 8.50 in Summer heat so it better run at least 8.30's.

Not going the 7.50 cage route.

Any connections for aftermarket blocks in Canada? Your in Ontario if I remember correctly?
Do you have a block already or you still on the hunt?

I am in BC. FHO just finished machining my block and getting the pistons in so parts can be shipped to me. I had a new mega block and I got talked into an aluminum block so I sold it to Tim and then poof no more KB blocks. Piss me off cause after two yrs I decided to sell my Stage V big valve heads done by FHO and the RB/T&D roller rocker assembly (sold in 4hrs). I bought the new World block from Dave Duedeck and just need to get the intake, heads, rocker set and crank.(waiting game)

I’d like to get a low deck block to transplant all my stuff into, but that is going to be a tough task.
Do I dare say Big M here LOL.

Yeah. When a guy runs a motor plate and coil over front suspension in a B body it leaves lots of room for the alternative. Believe me it is had to think that way but when you look at cost and availability it does start to look appealing.

I damn near bought a big M block to build a 632. $3200 here at Mopac. I have an Alterkation front end so what's in the middle doesn't really mean sh!t to me as long as the car goes forward and back. Doing a hemi just shows how stupid I am, doing a blown hemi.......well that is just stroking the ego and because I can.LOL eek

Yeah our dollar has jumped a bit, but the cross border sting is still there. Mopac knows me by name in Edmonton LOL. My wife cringes when a package shows up from there or Summit.
For what I put into my stock block stroker I could of built one heck of a Big M. And had $ left over for the TH400 with a great converter.

Before. It was just at the time when a lot of guys put down their cash and were starting to wonder where the hell their blocks are.

What failed och what are the weak points in your opinion?

In an earlier thread you posted (Dec 17 2015) that you had no problems with 1600 HP (fuel type not mentioned). Has there been any significant changes to the design when Bill Mitchell started selling the block (instead of the Grainger & Worrall cast World blocks)?

Re: 1200-1500hp - World iron hemi block? - 11/24/17 04:23 PM

I have one with pred heads that made 1200 on a single 4. I've since added a tunnel ram, and the car picked up mph, so I know it's making some undetermined amount more than that now. The car is 3400 pounds and runs high 5.20's to low 30's based on 60' which is rarely the same. sometimes it's 1.169, and other times it's 1.22 or slower on bad hits.

I've seen no signs of stress problems at this power, but blower torque may be a different story.

I would stay way clear of their aluminum block with a blower. Running over the crank doesn't sound like any fun at all lol.

My World block has lasted several rebuilds of 1100 +. Al has a build that made really good power, I think over 1200. That's why I'm looking for another option. Mopar left me hanging. There aren't any options right now and hasn't been for quite a while unless you want to be their R&D division and your expense.

Re: 1200-1500hp - World iron hemi block? - 11/24/17 06:10 PM

Iron block + blower = safe. Same power from NA or nitrous would be worse stress.

What brand 14-71? What does the discharge window and manifold look like?

Re: 1200-1500hp - World iron hemi block? - 11/24/17 10:00 PM

Littlefield standard, prepped for gas. full open on the bottom IIRC. Manifold will be a Stage V piece. I have 2 - Quickfuel 1050 blower domi's, CP blower pistons, crank will be a Bryant billet center counter weighted piece.

Re: 1200-1500hp - World iron hemi block? - 11/25/17 03:07 AM

I know full rotor exposure doesn't seem critical for race, but (as in all helixed rotors) all the air is in the triangle formed by the rotor's relative positions just behind the drive nose. Air behind that point is just pulled back into the case and re-heated.
It looks to me that masking the case would be easy (Eaton just closes it up, no special shape) but it may mean moving the case to the rear of the manifold - which will move your pulley out of line. Some pictures may exist of a masked case on a manifold to hint at a good distribution spot (although some OEM Eaton manifolds are just open boxes).

Anyone read anything on this?
