EFI trigger wheel with stock water pump

EFI trigger wheel with stock water pump - 11/10/17 03:00 AM

Starting to see people request EFI for stock looking engines. I worked with Doty to build a version of his short pulley that has a mounting ring on the backside for the trigger wheel. This way a person can use the thicker ATI damper, the short Doty pulley and then bolt on a trigger wheel for EFI.

Here are a couple of pictures. This setup fits with my billet timing chain cover and an aluminum water pump housing. I'll have parts on the shelf by the end of the year. This setup is designed to run a stock water pump but a person could also use it with an electric water pump if they wanted.

Turns out the bolt pattern clocking on the pulleys is wrong so I'll need to get that fixed. Shouldn't be a big issue but now I won't have parts ready to ship for a few more weeks.

How much $ and how many teeth on the trigger wheel?
Also, what type of pickup and how much is the complete package?

Trigger wheels are the same 36-1 as my other wheels. They are designed to work with the Holley sensor. I've heard that FAST will accept 36-1 in the next software release. I think most of the higher end EFI systems accept input from a 36-1 trigger wheel.

Cost depends on what all you buy. Some people want a complete turn key system, others mix and match parts depending on what they are trying to build.

Small block option?

The trigger wheel and the pulley will fit on a SB. You'll have to build your own bracket to hold the Holley sensor.

Are these new parts available yet?

You can buy them through Mopar Rich, FastMan EFI. I have one and they are every bit as nice as the pictures.

I've gotten parts into stock and then shipped them. At the moment I'm out of stock but should have more parts on hand in a week.

I'm making a few different trigger wheel combinations at the moment so you have to be clear on what you are looking for. Some folks have been using the larger trigger wheels that I designed for electric water pumps by grinding clearance in the pump housing.

There is also some confusion on the timing covers. I designed the original kit to fit a Jesel belt drive but then people wanted brackets that fit stock covers and Indy covers and so on. I designed a second set of brackets that fit my billet covers but people still want to use steel covers so then I added some spacers to the kit.

I'll get some more pictures and part numbers up on my website in the next few weeks and hopefully that will make things clearer.

Okay, I'm in the process of updating my price sheet and website for 2018. I have some of these new pulley/trigger wheels in stock now as well as the sensor bracket assembly. Cost is kind of expensive in low volumes but that is just the way it goes in this business. At least we now have a solution that bolts on and works with a stock water pump and a stock belt location.

The trigger wheel and pulley combination comes as one unit and is part number AR065. The sensor bracket is a different assembly and it is part number AR226K. The sensor bracket is designed to fit on an AR224 billet timing cover but I include spacers in the kit so it will fit on a stock stamped cover.

The trigger wheel and pulley combo is designed to fit on the face of an ATI 917122E damper. Other dampers might be made to work but it is designed for the ATI. The pulley is single groove and is in the stock location so it will run the water pump and the alternator. I do not have any plans at the moment to make two groove pulleys.

Is it even possible to do a stock location 2 groove pulley?

I would think it would sell as well or better than the single groove.

Not everybody that would buy this setup is building a race car. Power steering and A/C are gotta haves for a lot of people that actually drive their cars further than cruise night.

Has anybody talked with March Performance? I'm running a Sanden with power steering with the stock water pump. I received my crank wheel from Rich a few weeks ago but haven't put the motor together as I just put the dash together. I have 4 1/2 months before the first autocross. I will go v belt or Serpentine as my AC kit came with a V belt.

I get requests for a double groove pulley several times per year. I suppose I should break down and make some. The volumes for Mopar stuff is small and sometimes it's hard to justify the time and expense to design and manufacture it.
