My car is really close to the 10's

Last weekend my little brother and I loaded up my car and put a couple passes on it and I'm pretty excited. I leaned the carbs out one size down and it responded very well to that. It went an 11.08 @ 122mph. Lost a tenth on the 60' from the worn out drag radials (I think). Notice a slight miss in it in the video I took but everything checks out fine. What's the combo, and where did you run ?

528 hemi. Small solid roller. Indy modman with 2 750 eddy's. 2 1/8 tti headers with full 3" exhaust. 727 with 9" ultimate 4500 converter. Strange 60 with 4.10s and running a 275/60-15 Mickey Thompson radial on that pass. We were at Keystone Raceway in western PA.

Sounds like that should run 10's easy enough.

That was my goal but I haven't made it quite yet. I think if I had new tires, it would of made it. I race it in full street trim.

congrats. I think a wideband and some more dialing on those carbs will get you in the 10's. How did the plugs look?

Plugs look clean. I may just try dropping the secondary jets down one more size and try it. I'm not sure if it's smart to drop 3 sizes smaller on the secondary circuit than what the primary is. So I think I'll wait for a wideband.

Get the wideband first. Thumper Carbs(Dom) can help you with those carbs.

I think Dom will tell me to throw them in the trash . I run them because I want the stock look on my car.

i'v seen twin 500's run surprisingly well before. Don't know much about those tuning wise myself. would hurt to ask thou. Get a wideband and see whats really going on.

Twin 750 carbs will take some work. Edelbrock sells the 500 carb with a dual quad calibration. I've used those carbs before and they work really well right out of the box. Dual 750 carbs are going to be way too rich out of the box so you'll need to pull a lot of jet out of them.

If you didn't have any carbs I'd recommend the dual 500's for that engine but since you already have the 750 carbs then you'll just have to rework them. You don't need 1500 cfm on a street engine even if it is 528 cubic inches. Sounds like you're making around 600 hp given your mph so you are probably using 800 cfm or so at wide open throttle.

Nice car and nice hemi, but really as mentioned you should find 10-s semi easily with that motor, even with 3.55 gears or so.

if I had ported heads and more camshaft I'm sure it would be no problem. I'm sure I could make more power with a single 4 barrel too. But I'm working with what I have now. The car drives and sounds like a stone stock 340 and the build was in mind with junk pump gas we have and not breaking valve train. It works for me

My untouched bone stock hemi car ran a 13.96, like three weeks ago. First time out in years, if not sold it will be that long till next time.

Eddy's can easily go 3 sizes leaner on the secondary. No metering rod restriction. Lately guys have been telling me they've dynoed as far lean as 107/089.

Which eddy 750, the smoggers with the electric chokes or the non smoggers with the mechanical chokes?
If the smoggers look at each plug from a WOT pass at the end of the track to tune off of
The OEM Carters had a much smaller jet in the right hand side secondary jet(.069 diameter), passenger side rear carb. which was needed to prevent flooding # 8 cylinder at WOT
On your deal with that manifold you probably won't need to do that
Are you running the linkage like stock or one to one ?
Most drag Radials don't work well on bad tracks, they are faster than the same size bias ply tires on a good track.
Your close to reaching your goal and have the parts needed to get the job done, go have fun and test until your happy

Cab, they are mechanical chokes. I run them progressive. I've never raced it 1:1.

If you can unbolt your headpipes and slide em over so you can run open headers, you'll have your 10 sec timeslip. Hemis hate mufflers.

You mentioned unported heads.
Some are better ootb than others.

Which heads are you running?

If I were to guess I'd say close to 3800. I'd like to get it weighed tho.

Great car! Good luck in your quest. I'm not a HEMI guy, but you may want to look at your spark plug wires. The video sounds like you have spark jumping around. Our N/SS car did the same thing last time out. I started it in the garage at home afterwards, and the spark is jumping all over the place from burnt wires. May be worth a look.

I also run a 69 RR that has a 496 wedge, Source CNC Stealth Heads, a small solid roller, and weighs 3850 with me in it. It just went 11.07 @ 122.8. I'm in the same boat. I don't have a roll bar though and am concerned that I'll get booted if I continue my quest. I was hoping for solid 11.50's, and got more than I bargained for! Cool weather at Cecil County with some carb fiddling should get me there.

You might want to test different foot stall RPM and different shift points on the motor to find out what it really likes

It's a good place to be. I never thought I'd be stuck at this same point for quite this long, but does it bother me? All things considered, not a bit....Good running, nice looking car you got there.

Thank you Zippy! I appreciate that. I'm very content on how well it runs. But I'm this close with a handful of passes on it since the build was completed 2 years ago. This is my first Hemi and I think it will go into the 10s the way it sits with a little carb work. Once I get it, I'll stop

They work well in pairs and I understand the "look" thing but a w/b is your friend..........Runs good and a couple of tweaks and 10's will be there.............

My roadrunner knocked off an 11.04 first pass with the 511. Figured shoot, it's just gonna run 11.0's. Next pass was 10.95, then 10.92. Feels good when you get it, even if it is only by a little! Street car with no roll bar. Nice ride you have, keep tuning!

I do know that! But in reality it's a true streeter and a nice driver. It's fast enough for me but I would just like a 10 just to prove to myself I can do it. Sounds kind of weird I know.

A long time ago I was racing my 63 Ply in Super Street, it ran 11.00 for a year, the next year I went to the track with the blue bottle and never did see a 10, it was a 9.80 car LOL.
I only play naturally aspirated now.
