400 block - 10/02/17 03:29 AM

I found another 400 block as a spare. Not sure if it a disirable block or not. $150. Might get it. Looks like a 75-78 yr. Says its from a police car? What do you guys think? Worth it?

Have it sonic tested and magnafluxed before committing to buy it twocents
If it is good go for it up
If not, you got off cheap by paying to have it tested first work

If it's a virgin and the sonic #'s look good it should work well and my 15+ year old block came out of a 72 Dodge truck and had good #'s and is still goin strong.......... thumbs

Its the whole engine that i would be buying. Dont think he will do that. From what iv seen it may be better than my early block.

If you can get it for $150 then that is a good deal. Any Mopar block is a crap shoot. You won't know if it is any good until you get it all apart and over to a machine shop. That is why you shouldn't pay too much for a block but $150 is a good price. If it is a complete engine then you can probably sell the heads and recover a little bit of money. Other stuff isn't worth much, maybe sell some brackets or pulleys or something like that. Everything else just goes in the scrap bin.

I'd buy it. They're getting scarce. Worth the roll of the dice for sure.

I bought one a while back for $100. I sold the heads for that. If it was junk I'd be out nothing. Go for it.

I bought 2 530 blocks only for 200 each and both had really good sonic numbers, 1 was a 75 the other was a 76, used one and keeping the other as garage art.

I believe my block is a 530 block so far it’s holding together. Made 838 on the dyno. Billet mains.

Just to add to what everyone has already told you...I'd get it. The price is great. Doesn't matter what year model it is, or what casting number it is, or what it came out of...you won't know if it's a "good" one until you have it sonic checked.
