So My dad ordered a set of pro form roller rockers for the 360 we built for the power wagon. He got the "correct" pushrods with them. Hydrraulic with adjustable rockers. Well the adjuster is all the way backed in the rocker, the push rod cup is flush with the rocker arm, and te cam is definatly on the back side, or zero lash. Whats the deal?? Anyone have similar issues??

THere is 3/8 " of adjuster sticking above the rocker, and the ball end is almost tucked into the rocker. Whats wrong?? The push rods measure the specified length, do we have misboxed rockers?

Always best to measure before you order....

Differences in deck height, head gasket thickness how much has been machined off the block and head surfaces all change the required length pushrod....

Sounds like they sent you push rods for a solid lifter cam. The are much longer than the push rods for a Hydraulic cam with adjustable rocker arms. You need to get push rods for adjustable rockers and a hydraulic cam.

This is box stock 360, the only reason dad wanted roller rockers is he had a push rod push throught the factory stamped rockers after he had a gal pull out in front of him in a buick. He was going 45 in 3rd gear, and he nailed the brakes, and dumped into 2nd, when he let out the clutch he over revved the engine and pushed one through. He thought he spun a bearing, pulled the engine just in case, mind you he is 450 miles away from me, and he is explaining to me whats going on. After finding worned factory rockers, and pricing new rockers, shafts, and pushrods, he was only like $100 bucks more to go with roller rockers.

I was just wondering if the wrong rockers were ordered, maybe thay are big block or something like that.

Original pushrods were 5/16" correct, now you went
with 3/8" but I bet you didnt tell them 5/16" ball
on the ends and its setting higher in the lifter

You have the right rockers, wrong push rods. Get some push rods for engine with hydraulic lifters, like I said it sounds to me like you got push rods for a solid lifter engine. Were it me I would send back the whole works and go with your stock rockers and be done with it. This from Dulcich:

For $100 bucks difference I'd buy the rollers also
instead the factory stuff

I would sent those "Proform" rockers back,call RAS and get a trouble free rocker and order the correct pushrods.

Nope, they are not 3/8, they are still 5/16.

My ol man just called me back. He used a small pipe cutter, and cut abot 3/8 off, stuck the rod in the lathe, made the hole deeper for the end, and pressed the end back in the push rod. Hes old, but pretty good with his hands. He said they are all now just about perfect in the cup, the rocker arm has good geometry, and the adjuster has 3 threads above the jam nut. THis should work just fine for a stock 360 in a beat to snot power wagon with a 4 gear in it. It wont hit too many RPMs now, dad also bought a revv limiter ignition for it too.

Of course. Back when I ran pure stock we had to run the factory stuff. I carried a dozen or so spares because the pushrod used to bust out the rocker arm where it contacted it. This wasn't a once in a while thing this was about every 5-6 passes we changed one.

It might be ok with a cup adjuster, and ball/ball pushrods. But with cup and ball pushrods, I willing to bet the cup will contact the rocker arm at full lift.

It might be ok with a cup adjuster, and ball/ball pushrods. But with cup and ball pushrods, I willing to bet the cup will contact the rocker arm at full lift.

Unless you havr pushrod oiling you must be very careful of your ball/cup location to get proper oiling.Generally you want at least .050 between the cup and rocker.Check to make sure your rocker oil hole will be in the correct relationship to deposit oil at the cup.Too close to the rocker and the oil may deposit below the cup.
