So basic, it's embarrassing!

I'm mounting a remote filter adapter on the motor plate for my big block. I'm using a Milodon pump and cover set up for dual external pickup. I've never seen this brought up before. The pump cover isn't marked. Which line is pressure to the filter and which one is return? For simplicity, let's consider the pump fittings "High" mounted and "Low" mounted.

Not sure if this answers your question, but oil ENTERS the filter through the holes circling the large center hole and oil EXITS the large center hole on its way to the engine.

Thanks, but no, it doesn't answer my question. The filter adapter is marked. It's the pump cover that isn't. I think it's funny, over 50 views and it seems like nobody else knows either. Easy enough to figure out, though. Just might get a little messy.

Yep.. might get messy.. but pour some oil in
it and crank it over or use your priming tool

There are several manufacturers of these, without pics I wouldn't hazard a guess.
With the info above and some compressed air, you can blow thru the passages and figure it out. And then mark it permanently!

The front hole on top, closest to the heads, is the outlet and the bottom hole in the front of the adapter returns the oil into the block
Pull the pump out and look at it scope up

Thanks. You would think for that kind of money, the least they could do is identify the ports.

Note the arrows I put on mine when I ran that pump.

They are correct. From the Milodon website:

TECH NOTE: On Milodon oil pump covers, the TOP port is "Out" while the Bottom port is "In".

Thanks, guys. Couldn't find that info on Milodons site. A simple arrow engraved in the housing would be nice.

Yes, they are CNC machined and those arrows would take 2 seconds to put on there and it would make it a better product.

I stamped mine "IN" and "Out" with steel stamps, right on the front so it's easy to see.
