One or two fore/aft engine limiters

Street/strip 4 speed hemi 980 hp...do I need one or two fore/aft limiters?

I just installed one from the bellhousing to one of the transmission
Crossmember bolts, and is a straight shot.

Any opinions would be helpful, thank you.

I just use one on my cuda and it works fine. Been that way for 10 years w/ no midplate.

I use 2 on the race car.. it leaves hard.. on
your stick ride I would use 2 so it cant torque
the engine side ways.. JMO

Running two on my car. No room in the engine bay with the Hemi & headers so I went off of the trans mount.

I went with two, and since both of my cars are 4spds...I took Mike's (Mr_P_body) advice. I have one inline from the Lakewood bell to one of the Transmission Crossmember bolts, and one from the left engine mount pad with a modified old motor mount, angled back to a welded bracket welded to the frame rail. I bought the Jegs brand CM Panhard Bar kit. A little pricy, but very nice parts.

A mount in compression must be pretty stout - don't use a 5/16-24 bolt through the Heim joint.
A mount in tension can be (almost) a piece of lamp cord.

3/8-1/2" perhaps ? what about tubing material to be used ? chromoly only ?

Mine are a little shorter than this on 727. But pretty much same set up!

I used the Chrome Moly 1/2" Heim Joints w/chrome Moly 1" x .083 tubing & has the CM threaded inserts. It is the Jegs Panhard kit that sells for just under $100.00 each, and comes with the CM stands.

The 1/2" Fine Thread bolts that come with the kit are grade 8 bolts & grade 5 Nylock nuts.

Stiffness is almost unrelated to the steel alloy, mild is 99% of 4130, it's the diameter that matters. 1" is popular so I guess it works. Thicker wall does very little compared to going up to 1-1/4".
As a restraint in tension only, I've used 5/32" steel wire braid with thimbles and lead U clamps, never moved, weighs nothing, costs nothing, silent, easily adjustable if needed. Also makes a nice vertical restraint to prevent ripping that driver's side rubber mount.

I use one in the front. It's actually aluminum. There is a bracket that bolts to the pan rails that is hard to see in pic.

I concur, I'd rather have it in tension.
