anyone know who has program to CNC -mopar stage 6 heads? - 05/12/17 08:09 PM

Hello, I wound up with a new pair of Mopar stage 6 heads (casting number 4532885 ) and if I remember correctly someone had a set of stage 6 heads ported by some engine shop that has a program to do stage 6 head porting... if anyone knows who has this, please let me know.
Thank you

This wont be of any help to you...... But......

Before the Chapman stage 6's arrived on the scene, MP offered a CNC ported version of the std stage 6.

I have what I believe is a set of those here in the shop(they have been CNC ported with a pretty coarse program), and fwiw...... They don't flow anything special as they came ootb.
I would consider the porting that was done a nice head start on getting the bulk of the major "hogging" out of the way.......... Other than too much was actually removed from the exhaust floor.

Just because some shop has a CNC program doesn't mean that program is a good match for anyone else's build. What do you want to do with those heads?

The heads will probably be going on a 400 block-stroked to 512 street/strip use. not sure on induction system yet.

I'd also recommend KG engines. Dave does great work and can set them up anyway you want.

2nd member that posted is your "go to guy" for all things Stage VI. You won't be disappointed..... well, with his work anyways. The head itself might be another story smile Look in the archives.... quite a bit of reading about this head back in the day including some on the set Dwayne did for me. His head work got me some 9 sec time slips on such a mundane build it was laughable.

Some of you guys kill me on thinking that EVERYTHING has to be CNC'd. LOL

I find it can tough to compete price-wise with the CNC jobs, especially for applications where the heads to be ported are getting "extensively" modified.

None of the ones I ported ever put up "the big number" on the flow bench, but they all seemed to go pretty well in the cars they were used in.

IMO, the biggest restriction to flow with the non-Chapman stage 6's is the lack of intake port height under the valve spring.

With all the head options out there today, I think by the time you fix all the typical stage 6-isms, and buy all the parts, and have them fully ported...... I can see where you'd have more into them than some other "better" options....... And that's even if the castings themselves were free.

i would just send them to Larry Smith, his port job on my -1's outflows the cnc port job, but then it depends on how you want to use them. I have a set of Stage 6's on my 512 in my streetcar. they flow 350cfm@650 & my 'cuda has run 10.5's with them.

Better nail down those decisions before you put any money into those heads, in case they turn out to be a poor choice after all.

Can you give more details on your 512?

Prime observations and advice. You have to beat Stage VI heads into submission. There are much better options out there........unless......you can do all the work on these heads yourself. And then, there are still better options than these dinosaurs.

Isn't it sickening when a part is so far out of date that it is worthless? like a set of 440 LY rods, or two, or six. Like other rods that you've paid to have Magnafluxed and shotpeened, yet aren't as good as a set of CAT rods. Or any number of camshafts. Etc Etc Etc.

Oh well,

Those heads suffered from piss poor QC, like many MP/DC products. Indy, Edelbrock,up to the newest Trick Flows have refined the head designs and have passed up the old Stage 6s. Unless you have a set of known good heads or something rare like the Chapmans, why bother?
