So... around 60-65#s heavier than an OEM 440 passenger car block?

Nice! (Yes, the pics showed up)

What's left to do machining-wise before it should be ready to start assembly?

I'm not totally sure, but definitely bored to 4.35", maybe a line hone, and deck for flatness. Dropping it off tomorrow.

Re: Muscle Motors New Block - 03/31/17 08:57 PM

with the oil galley being flush with the front cam journal can you get the pipe plug all the way in flush with the threads so as not to interfere with the timing chain? or does it use a different kind of plug.

That block looks plenty beefy! I'll have to get my hands on one someday for a killer build.

Ok just figured out an extra thing to wish for in an aftermarket block - how about the option to use a SB bell housing pattern smile

Re: Muscle Motors New Block - 04/01/17 03:01 AM

It's great that they make a lo deck 4.24 bore, this is the way to go for NHRA Super stock 383 engines, the Hod Rod article said the price was 3,800, is this correct.

Re: Muscle Motors New Block - 04/01/17 04:05 AM

Mopar Muscle this month also said it starts at $3800 with the 4.25 bore. I think it was something like $150 or about that much more for the 4.49 bore block. And I believe its comes standard with billet steel main caps with ARP studs. Ron
