Help with crank manufacture? - 01/20/17 04:52 AM

I recently purchased some parts and I'm not sure what brand crank this is? I'm hoping someone here can help me. It's a 3.250 stroke crank. Mains are 2.500. Rod journals are 2.100. Part number on the crank is 83718.1 any info would be appreciated!
Thanks Mark

That doesn't look like any billet crank I have seen. Scat, Eagle, Molonar, etc. forged.

Guy from Moldex thought it was a old crower

Looks like a billet to me.. yes it may be dirty
but still looks like one.. clean sides, no
separation lines like a cast or forged.. basically
smooth everywhere that looks like it was shot peened
that gives it that gray look

Just curious ... What does it weigh? I think it's a Bryant... Looks like their numbering.

looks like a forged piece to me...

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/21/17 04:34 PM

It has a lot of high end features, but no center counterweights. I have a Bryant and it is not numbered like that one.

Let us know what you find out.

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/21/17 04:43 PM

I think it could be a Crower. Their current part number for a custom stroke small block crank is 95171C.

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/21/17 04:45 PM

I called crower yesterday and emailed them pics and they say it's not one of there cranks...
I'll check with Bryant on Monday!

No parting line.

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/21/17 06:32 PM

It's set up as follows.... 2.500 mains with 2.100 rod journals. The crank came with Carrillo 6.200 rods, chevy pins... this stuff came with virgin R1 block I just bought. I'm trying to get everything cleaned up and then I'm planning on selling it all... I'll list the stuff soon when it's ready for sale

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/21/17 08:34 PM

I can tell you it is not a Winberg. I worked there for ten years. Bryant would be my guess, but most of the other manufactures including Bryant share the same shape on the leading edge of the counterweights. Winberg rounded and tapered profiles on their stuff.

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/22/17 12:58 AM

curious.... do you think there's even a market for a 3 1/4 stroke crank?
Posted By: MGC340

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/22/17 03:39 AM

Not sure it came with package.... I know a lot of dirt track guys run them for there 360 and limited cubes classes..

Re: Help with crank manufacture? - 01/22/17 11:01 AM

My hunch would be that it's a Bryant Craftsman truck crank

There is no parting line on any 4340 forged cranks I have seen. Stock crank yes. The knife edging appears to me untouched. I'm still think its forged. Just my twocents
