What is the thickness of a orig "car dana" axle tube?

Close to 1/4"

I agree.. 1/4" for the car and 3/8" for the truck

Thanks guys. I thought it was 1/4 but don't have one in front of me at the moment. A friend is headed to get some steel I want to get the right stuff.

I have a truck Dana 60 in my Challenger & it was the 3/8" thick.

Do any of you all know or can calculate the weight difference per inch of the two tubing thicknesses?

Thats 3.14 lbs/ft or .2616 lbs/inch... 3.00"
tube dia X .250 wall VS 3.00" X .375 wall
