That treatment sounds like micro polishing that has been used in Hi Po motors and drive train parts for a long time shruggy scope

Sounds similar to this process.

http://www.microblueracing.com/

They treat big truck engine and drivetrain parts with it and people I've spoken to that use it claim it reduces hub temps on wheel ends and reduced oil temps in trans and diffs as well as engine. This would imply reduced friction.

NASCAR teams use it so there must be something to it.

Read the testimonials on the site, but would like to talk with some people that used it.It's not like I can Call Roy Johnson!

Except it isn't oil or anything else that pours out of a bottle.

No it isnt but makes the same claims and they have been proven to be bogus

No they haven't. Again, this is NOT an additive. This is basically micro polishing, which does work. Racers pay thousands of dollars for low drag wheel bearings, center sections and the like. The difference, the parts are micro polished and it DOES make a difference.

Now, is it worth it for the OP? Can about guarantee NO

I read it as a 1 micron coating not a polishing.
I agree on micro polishing but not on coatings

Just Google Johnson & Johnson Racing Greeneville TN.

Phone number pops right up on YP.

AJ has posted here before and comes across as pretty down to earth. If it isn't top secret, somebody there can probably tell you what they use it on and what the benefit is.

It's not a coating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take the time to study the website before spouting off.

It is, as Monte said, micropeening. The claims to create a harder and smoother surface are not claims that fit with a coating, unless we're talking about diamond-like coating whch is used extensively in NASCAR and other pro racing venues.

The smooth surfaces found on things like intake manifolds are obtained by ball burnishing, which uses larger diameter, softer balls.

From the WPC website:

"WPC is a proven process that has been utilized for many years in the racing and automotive industry. WPC is not a coating, it is a treatment that enhances the surface to reduce friction and strengthen engine parts.

Image of WPC Treatment

WPC achieves this process by firing ultra fine particles towards the surface of a product at very high speeds. The resulting thermal discharge permanently changes the surface, strengthening structure and creating a harder more durable final product.

Why is WPC Superior?

The WPC process is unrivalled in treating engine parts and other surfaces that have contact points of friction. WPC is superior because it is not a coating; it is a permanent surface treatment that reduces friction while strengthening the part. It's unique micro-dimple formation pattern greatly reduces friction and is unmatched by conventional methods of surface treatment.

WPC has the capacity to treat carburized, nitrided and plated parts without noticeable dimensional changes, and, upon completion of treatment, no further modifications are required of the parts. The strength and durability improvement on the surface after the WPC treatment is unsurpassed by any current methods.

Treatable products include steel, aluminum, titanium, copper and brass and soft surfaced bearings. WPC can treat any metallic item in a disassembled state."
