Midwest area machine shop - 12/24/16 07:48 PM

Anyone know of any machine shops in the Midwest area (as close as possible to Kansas City) that are reputable for Mopar stuff? Like the ability to prep a Hemi block, Bush lifter bores, etc...

YES...call Kevins Machine Shop in Liberty mo.
Liberty is a suburb of KC.
816 781 4615.
Ask to talk to Don (big don) Burlington, he's been building race engines for 40+ years.
He built the engine in the new white Camaro that ran unlimited in Drag week a couple years ago.
Also builds lots of roundy round engines now since local drag strip shut down.
He also helped me fix my butchered 632 from MM.

JD Engine and Machine in Columbia MO. I haven't used them myself but they are in a lot of the build competitions in Mopar Muscle and I think they are well known for second gen Hemi stuff.

In the St. Louis area I use Precision Engine Inc in Granite City IL. Don Kulash is a good guy and a Mopar racer.

good luck,

Steve

Ditto on precision engine and Don Kulash here in the st Louis metro East... The top machinist builder in the metro East. There is is another machinist-builder with excellent credentials recommendations further south in Marissa Illinois as well. Can't remember the name, I've got his card around here someplace I'll post it when I track it down

I would recommend Mid America Racing Engines. Dave built my 505 cubic inch max wedge engine, dyno tested at 620 hp/tq on pump gas in his shop. Photos of my engine are shown on his website photos. I drove back to Iowa from Utah to have Dave machine, assemble, dyno my engine, I provided all the parts. He is extremely easy to deal with, no attitude at all. Dave is also very knowledgable, many years of experience with Mopars, and all other types of engines. His prices are very reasonable also, call around to compare. He won the mopar muscle magazine engine challenge a few year back with a stroker big block. He also did very well with the Hemi, budget big block, and small block engines he build other years for the challenge. I included a few links below.
