Thanks Best Machine and Superformance Gaskets - 10/05/16 02:54 AM

Finally was able to make some passes on new Best Machine 540, it met expectations. 9.38@144 mph, I was impressed given the car weighed 3550#s at the starting line. The combo is fairly basic and as always it is a sum of its parts. Chuck and Pete did an excellent job on all the machine work, and parts selection While we did the assembly locally.

Also wanted to thank Greg at Superformance for all the leak free gaskets. And the last minute custom gaskets for the tunnel ram. His customer service is second to none.

The combo:
- Indy Maxx Aluminum Bloc
- 4.25 x 4.5
- Indy 325 CNC Heads
- Best Machine Custom Cam ( 279/750 , 290/730 )
- Indy Tunnel Ram / 2 750 carbs with proform parts.
- 9" Converter
- 4.30 gear
- 13 x 31 tire
- 68 GTX 3550#'s

This combo is 3 tents faster than the previous 499 with Edelbrock Victor Heads and 280/670 cam..

And given the high mph, I have a bunch of work to do on the chassis to reach potential.

Congrats on your improvement. What were the incremental numbers? How much compression?

Ditto.. full cam specs would be nice as well.
I make that a true 850 hp, that's good numbers.

Thanks for the congrats and interest folks. I have attached the time slip for folks interested. The weather on this date was pretty good, DA was at 2000 and grains of water were mid 60's. The compression is 14:1.

I do not have the cam card handy but it is a Custom Comp Cam from Best machine. They have a few grinds and this is one of the smaller ones.

Mph and 60 don't look too bad at 3550. My bet is the converter is a little tight. There is more left. got at least a mid .20

Doug - agree on converter. This was tight behind my 499 and also tight behind my friends 572. It provided the data needed to order the next one..Hopefully we get it right and it helps.

Also, love your car, watched it run many times. Nice work!
