It's interesting to me that Mopar moved their prostock sponsorship from Allen Johnson to Elite Motor Sports. And Johnson seems to out qualify the Elite cars pretty consistently. I wonder if Mopar moved because they thought it was a step toward the winners circle?

I`m sure they thought grabbing a winning team from previous years would give them a edge but it seemed to backfire on them. I saw Enders at the Englishtown race and she didn`t seem to be too happy. I`m surely not happy about seeing the Summit gang continue their winning all year. They couldn`t even get 16 cars for this race? It`s no wonder why they had Justin “Big Chief” Shearer at the E town race.

The sponsorship went to Jeg as a business decision and he chose the elite team instead of AJ racing. I believe that decision will pay off for him, but not this year. I am also glad to see AJ as the quicker car right now.

Allen is doing a great job and I'm sure he smiles a little knowing he's qualifying better and going more rounds than mopar sponsored cars.

If Jeggie doesn't win he'll pull out for a year or two, then try to jump on a hot winning team again. He's done it over and over.

The Summit team hired John Meaney for their EFI and other electronic duties. He was a electronic engineer for GM and basicaly invented aftermarket EFI. If anyone knows their way around an ECU and the rules (10,500 rpm limit), its him.

I had a feeling the Jeg had something to do with the change in sponsorship. It kind of sucks that Mopar didn't have more loyalty towards Allen Johnson. But on the other hand I'm sure there is some back door deal between Mopar and Allen Johnson. I saw Johnson's car at New Hampshire and he had the latest and greatest heads and nobody else had them, not even Elite. Something is going on......

People keep saying that, but it is absolutely NOT true. John Meaney has ZERO to do with KB racing, other than being friends with Bo Butner and sponsoring HIM in other cars. Jason Line is the sole KB racing EFI tuner and has been from day one. Where they are ahead is on the CHASSIS

Reportedly, Mopar made the decision to change their sponsorships to a B2B type relationship. As a customer of Mopar, Jegs sells Mopar Performance. AJ had no such business relationship.

Summit sells Mopar parts also I'm not sure which outfit sells the most Mopar parts so maybe the decision makers chose Jegs based on volume, maybe not

Jeg does business with MP. KB doesn't own Summit or vice-versa. And I'm sure there are lucrative contracts between KB and Chevrolet.

My thought was if The Summit team had some advance notice of the change in Pro Stock and had time to test way before anyone else it would have given them a advantage. Summit is a big part of NHRA with the sponsored races and such. Just my thinking.

Nope.......Each ECU and each Throttle body is serialized and assigned to a certain team. KB racing had their parts the same time everyone else did.

At the beginning of the year, they were a LITTLE ahead on power, but a TON ahead on setup. Now other teams are there on the mph, but still behind on the setup.

Jason Line is a VERY smart guy. He knew nothing of EFI but understands fuel, air, spark. So he had no preconceived notion of how it HAD to be done, unlike some "tuners". He just did what was needed, not how somebody told him it HAD to be done......and here we are.

I see this all the time with some of my nitrous guys. Some of my best guys are the ones who were good N/A tuners and had ZERO nitrous experience. I just tell them to tune it like the N/A motor it still is. They have no notions of how it SHOULD be, based on old wives tales, poor information, or anything else. Just do what they do.

Now, many teams brought in "tuners"..........how many of these tuners know anything about a 500" N/A Pro-Stock motor and how tiny the window is. Jason Line knows exactly that and only needed to learn to use the software to do what he KNEW needed done........where others had to learn the motor and what it wanted. Which do you think would be easier?

I thought last year there was going to be a "phase-in' provision that legally allowed cars to still run a carb for 2016? I can't remember what the offset/penalty was, maybe smaller cubes? I thought they had something written in in case all the teams couldn't afford the switch?

.04 of a second behind in prostock might as well be a light-year behind. I thought the change was to encourage audience support, since it's become Pro Camaro/Pro KB, so I'm like, who cares??

I'm not a KB Racing fan but their hard work has paid off.

For the first time in my 40 years of racing Pro Stock has become a snoozefest for me. I check ahead to see how Allen Johnson is doing and go from there. The only reason I will go out to Norwalk for Fridays qualifying is if the weather is PERFECT and or if I need 10% off coupons from Jegs and Summit for some big purchases. I've seen more aborted passes this year than ever before in my life between the water-box and the 330.

P/S lost me when they evolved from real cars with real motors to kit cars with generic motors. (Funny cars with doors that open)

PDRA, RVW and all of the boosted racing going on is cool, but I still like the naturally aspirated stuff too and Pro Stock is at the top of that pile. The technology is all secret squirrel stuff which I understand is necessary, but it's disappointing. I'd like to read up on it or see some of it. I have to think it's very interesting at that level.
