$10,000 for quickest Dodge, $5,000 for second, $2500 third

$10,000 for quickest Dodge, $5,000 for second, $2500 third - 05/24/16 07:36 PM

I have not posted in a looooong time, but figured this is worthy. We are having an event called Roadkill Nights on June 18 at Kansas Speedway. It's a car show and stuff, but we also have street-type drag racing on pit row! It's probably 500 feet, give or take, with minimal prep.

Dodge-powered Dodge cars are running for a big purse: $10,000 to win, $5,000 runner up, $2500 third, $1500 fourth.

Here's how it will work. Time trials all day, with no times posted. When it comes time to finals, the four quickest Dodges become the Quick 4. It's an unusual elimination format designed for lots of side-by-side races with the quickest cars. Every car will end up racing each of the other Quick 4 cars, so each car runs three times. 1 races 2, 3, and 4. 2 races 1, 3, and 4. 3 rces 1, 2, and 4. 4 races 1, 2, and 3. You get 5 points for winning a round and 3 points for losing. Points are added up to determine winners.

That's the nutshell. Full rules and registration will be posted here: roadkill.com/events

I would assume no...probably something to do with Dodge sponsoring Roadkill. I wasn't allowed to play with the Dodge's at the Silverdome event last year.

Hope it's a good turnout and brings some heads-up and grudge cars out of the woodwork!

I plan to take the Charger, but it won't be very quick.

No reason to step outside your door. Especially since they'll make a lot of coin just by you showing up.

Well in my opinion that is an incredibly stupid idea......I mean what does dodge car only with a dodge engine differ from a Plymouth with a Chrysler engine???? A name tag only.......well I guess I won't show up since I don't understand the logic of a name tag only exclusion.

Because PLYMOUTH doesn't exist anymore. DODGE is still building cars.
If they allowed Plymouths and Chryslers, it couldn't be the Dodge challenge...
it would be the Mopar challenge, Kind of hard to promote your product if a different nameplate wins..

It's a ROADKILL event. smile In case you didn't know, Roadkill is sponsored by DODGE. Half the people out there probably don't even remember Plymouth anymore. drinking But even if they did, racing Plymouths isn't going to help Dodge sell more cars. drive

I understand some disappointment, but gosh in my opinion everyone should be thankful that FCA is organizing something like this. How many Mopar (OK, Dodge) focused events are there? At the very least it keeps interest in the brand and may result in parts being around for our old heaps a little longer. Besides just the fun factor for most, that is a pretty nice purse for at least 4 Mopar supporters!

Full disclosure: I drive a Plymouth and it's too far for me to attend.

I've posted this on a mopar group I made for Missouri yesterday. My cousin and I might go to this and follow up with a mopar car show the following day in Columbia Missouri. Just took my car for its maiden voyage today. 470 is stout, but all it takes is a couple of hellcats to show up and ruin it for everyone. But I'm hoping with that high of a payout, that's some quick old mopar muscle will clean house.

Functioning seat belt required. No race belts?

Re: $10,000 for quickest Dodge, $5,000 for second, $2500 third - 05/25/16 01:25 PM

The race is only about 500 FEET long, that's less than an 1/8mile...
On an un prepped pit road...
I really doubt with it being dodge only, that many RACE cars will attend.
This will be run for a guy with a nice street cruiser. For a guy with a high hp car, probably not so much, no traction.
If I had a Dodge, I'd give it a shot.

I need to swap out the 0.96" T-Bars and sway bar for some 318 T-Bars, and put the wide band O2 on the car before I go. I still doubt it will help traction for this event. Only traction device on the car is a pinion snubber, but the event sounds like fun.
Be interesting to see how the car does at > 5,000 feet less altitude?

Edit - I did see it is only 500' that seems to be why safety requirements are pretty minimal.
I am a bit confused on the "No trailered cars, must be driven in" rule. Not sure if they mean trailers need to be parked outside the event and the cars driven in (from where to where?)
Not a big deal, just curious if there is a place to park a trailer near the event?

Of the cars I see mentioned here I think mr P has the best shot in a 500' "no traction race" by far, short wheel base, no tq, big tars... that little pl... er I mean uh dodge spirit would stomp hellcats comin and goin, no way a hellcat wins on that short a track, they can't hardly hook on a real track and only start making up for lost time around 500ft.

No trucks for the same reason no plymouths, dodge don't make a truck, they are "rams" now (wish I could find the role eyes thingy).

You may not like bracket racing but if yo want

you got BIG bucks and a pro built car.. then you
can go race heads up or in the 275 class but either
takes big money... I quit street racing years ago

Pretty clear:

A Cash Purse totaling $19,000 will be awarded to the quickest Dodge cars, Dodge body and Dodge-powered cars only. No trucks are allowed.
1st place – $10,000
2nd place – $5,000
3rd place – $2,500

It PLAINLY says "no trucks".............as to whether they will allow the Rampage or not, will boil down to what David thinks it is. HE makes the rules for HIS events, but I am sure the no trucks is from Dodge. That's too bad, because it also eliminates the SRT 10 trucks, but as someone else said, they probably don't want a bunch of hopped up diesel trucks out there. This event is to showcase Dodge and their modern performance cars, but they can't legitimately rule out any CAR that has a Dodge badge

Sounds like a Dodge Stealth AWD TT might be good for a 500' race, if you can keep it from breaking. Mitsubishi engineered though. work

I was hoping to make it out there with my car(not that i expect to be one of the fastest, but just to go with my cousin and watch). But 100 miles after my engine build and randomly it's a knocking. I may have figured it out and hope it's an easy fix. Otherwise fan

that turned out a piece of crap... I finally started
doing them myself.. its been fine so far.. and I've been
beating on it... I do want to change my heads but that
shouldnt take long

Mr. P, the drag race rules apply to everyone, because this is not a Dodge-only event. It's open to all makes and models. But to win the cash for the Dodge-only quick 4 shootout, it has to be a Dodge-powered, Dodge-bodied passenger car.

To be clear, Roadkill Nights includes grudge-style racing for any car, and there's also a car-show area for all cars. But we also have a show area just for Dodges and a special drag race shootout for Dodges. There are also Dodge Thrill Rides, where people can ride along for burnouts and drifts in Hellcats and Vipers. SPECTATORS ARE FREE.

And, for the record, I'll be very surprised if a Hellcat wins this. It'll go to an old hot rod, I'm sure.

Roadkill Nights is June 18, 1 to 10 pm, Kansas Speedway.

I had a good time, but left early.
My wife got sick from the heat.
I figured that my car was too slow for the top 4?
They would not give us our qualifying standings.
The track was really hard to get traction.

I hope they list the qualifying standings.

Would like to thank Dodge and Roadkill for putting on a great event. I had an awesome time, my car ran great and hooked up surprisingly well and ended up 3rd fastest Dodge with a Plymouth emblem on the car, lol. In all fairness I was called over to my car and the Roadkill guys informed me of being 3rd fastest and did try to get the rules bent a little to allow me to run for the big money but in the end no dice. I met GY3 and Farmboy who were pitted a couple cars down from me and both of those guys are VERY nice, and their car is badass and did get into the final 4. I hope they come back again next year. Thanks

Not sure if I met you or not. I went to the pits and looked at your car but you weren't there. The whitehaired guy with farmboy was our buddy Ron. I was in the show field with the Honda Mini Trail and our buddy Lawrence's slammed '37 Dodge.

Very nice Barracuda!

I'm sure glad you chose to bring that sweet running Plymouth to this event. Had a great time meeting you and many other nice folks. A big thanks to the Roadkill crew, for putting on a great event.

It was a fun event. I had a few good passes and a few not so great. I am not the best with a 4spd.
'68Cuda416 I think I was right across from you, and you even beat me when we raced. I have the blue 68 charger.

Anyway it was a blast and there were a lot of nice cars.

Yes that was me, and I'm glad I had a chance to meet you and your car rocks and is very very clean......it's one of those cars that everybody wishes they could own. Hope to see you next year if not sooner.

Here are 3 of the top 4. Troy and the Dart weren't there yet and my phone died shortly after.
