i would not think a gun could read a fully warmed engine exhaust.i just have an EGT that reads 1320+/- after a run aqt idle.i think a gun goes to 900F.

My gun reads to 999 , egt would be lots higher than infra red ,egt is in the path of the exhaust , infra red is outside jacket , egt is the way to go for real #s but for the rest of us infra red will have to do

EGT at idle versus header temps at idle below 1100 RPM will be a bunch lower than 1000 F, or they should be. Running the motor at or above 1200 RPM will make both temps go up

We tryed wraping them but too hard to clean , baked on mud , break out the hammer , I was just wondering what some other header temps were to kinda base line mine , my friend runs a 500 inch pro stock engine and his temps are in the 900s idles at 1800 rpm , we run 12 to 1 so when were not racing we run 93 pump gas to move the truck around , header temps on 93 are 150f lower than racing fuel the 112 must still be burings on the way out , ill try to post some pics but thier not too good
