Tornados near Holly Springs MS.....

From Dragzine: We're receiving word out of Mississippi that the Holly Springs Motorsports 1/8-mile dragstrip suffered catastrophic damage from a tornado that passed through the city during today's line of severe weather. Track managers Terry and Carol Forsythe also reportedly lost their home, located near the track. Our thoughts are with the Forsythe's and everyone in the Holly Springs area as they begin to recover from the devastation.

Pictures look like the track, or at least it's structures are demolished. having been there several times and knowing where the hotels are in relation to track...........the you-tube videos of storm looks like it went right down the track

Someone posted some pictures on Facebook of some of the damage to race cars, trailers, and motorhomes. They can't locate a few. Major bummer

That's terrible. Right at Christmas, too.

Saw some other pictures and everything that is NOT track surface is GONE. Took every building and tree down on the property. Just wiped it off...............They had talked for years about moving tower back and lengthening track. Terrible way for this to take place, but maybe Holly Springs will come back bigger and better. Its a great track.............But the WORST news, is that a local racer and his family got caught in the storm, in a car. All in the hospital and their 7 year old was killed in the crash

Sad news, seven lost their lives. Prayers sent for the victims and families of those injured and who lost their lives.

After looking thru some of the pics and video, I can hardly beleive the destruction. I hope to never have to endure something like that. Thoughts and prayers to all those affacted.

I had a tornado hit my home in 2002 in November. It leveled everything and I had no insurance. It is hard to have to start over.
I hope everybody was ok.

Dragstrips must be the new trailer parks. Hate to hear this about HS and the people who lost all.

Huntsville has had a couple direct hits, and they have come back and there are records being set - again.

Huntsville has never taken a direct hit like Holly Springs did. Has been some damage done, trees, scoreboards blown down, etc............but HS was basically wiped off the map. ALL that is left is the track surface. Any other structure is completely gone. Hope they had good insurance, because it will take a couple million to fix it

Thanks for posting that. Brings a tear to your eyes seeing what others are dealing with and to think people are complaining because they received the wrong color of cloths for Christmas.

That is one of my local tracks. It was a very good facility. I hope they get it back together soon.

You are forgetting the 'nader from about 15 yrs ago. They still haven't found race car trailers that went missing that afternoon. Not downplaying the MS tragedy, but HSV has seen some wind.

Knock on my head but my place is 3 miles North by the bird and I don't even get leaves blown off my trees. Airstrip > dragstrip I suppose. I better fergit any ideas of building a place to test 60's on and a chassis shop location to rent out at the end of my airstrip as it may draw in 'naders.

I hope everybody got through all the rain too.

The track at Huntsville has never been leveled. Same tower that was there when I worked there in the 80s. Same bleachers, etc. To me there is big difference in some storm damage and the facility basically being GONE.
