Indy alumium block

I am having a new 600" motor built, I will be using the Indy Alum RB block. I see that they have machined pads on the side of the block for what appears to be engine mounts, are these for Hemi style mounts? This motor will be going into a 68 Cuda with a Hemi Denny coil over front suspension. I do not want to use a motor plate with this engine, can I just get the Hemi style mounts that would go to my Hemi Denny suspension?

I guess you can not get this block with the wedge style mounting ears?

That is a good question....I do not know on the pads. Mine was ordered without any motor mount provisions and I used a plate in my e-body. What I will tell you is good luck fitting it in the 68 A-body...

We have a 474 Hemi in one with an older Cummins block...PITA it is...And yours might be worse, and I will tell you why. The front of the block is also cross bolted on the Indy blocks unlike a stock block. The boss there is wider than a standard block on both sides, so I am not sure if that will interfere with a motor mounts, steering or what not.

On all of our installs we used a plate. And on our A-body Hemi below, we cut the passenger fender big time and re-welded it. No pics of this currently though.

When I had my Indy block I remember that you could not use the Hemi mounting pads it was too thin and aluminum in that area.
I had to get a motor plate

We ran them for years in our B body car. Worked great!

We use those pads too. The block is thin there, but so far, in 15 years, no problem.

Tig, are you using the mounts on the block or a plate? Todd Marsh is building my motor also. After reading about yours on here, I knew he was the one to build mine. Mine will be a 600" indy max block. 572-13 heads, 13.5, solid roller, street car motor.....

Why a 600" motor and no plate? I'm not sure I'd want the stress of mounts on the side of an Indy aluminum block.

When is it critical to have a midplate with a plate?

We use a motor plate and a home built mount that fits the block and the rhs K mount for a limiter, It ain't pretty but can be removed with the motor in place. Motor plate is 3/8th thick. The lhs mount is removed from the K frame for clearance for the Milodon dual lines and oil pump. Having only one limiter on one side doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Motor sounds cool and Todd's great to work with also.
