340 restoration block - 10/27/15 01:52 PM

Anyone out there have one they are making big power with? Looking at a 59*, non siamese setup. I know it's basically a r3 block with the extra head bolts milled off, but just was curious if anyone is making 1000-1200hp with one of these blocks?

Mine spends WAY MORE time in the street then it does the track, and mine is filled.

I never even needed an oil cooler until I put the diaper on the car. Now it's got a small oil cooler and runs 180-200 everywhere.

I'd rather not fill it, I don't think anyone fills r3 blocks at that kind of power.

I have run a mostly filled stock block on the street just fine, if you were to go that route, run a big oil cooler. Mine was filled to the water pump holes. Is it a power adder deal of some sort?

I have been running a filled R3 on the street for years. It has completed 7 Drag weeks and 3 class wins, every time I take it apart my machinist ark's me why is this thing apart, it looks great.

Moroso engine block filler. As mentioned, an oil cooler is a good idea if you use a lot of filler. Mine is filled to the bottom of the water pump holes. Seen oil temp as high as 212, but synthetic is often good to over 250 - per Royal Purple tech people. Still, a cooler is not a bad idea if you do a lot of street driving.

Hard Blok, filled approximately half way up, also use an oil cooler with a oil temp gage close to the oil pickup. Oil temp and water temp run within 10 deg of each other.
