MSD PROBLEM - 10/06/15 06:54 AM

Built a 340 4 speed and put it in a 80 d100 stepside. Using a 6A #6200 box. I first used a blaster 2 coil and a mallory unilte distributor. No fire. Did the test coil seemed weak. Installed a different coil still no fire. got the son's msd dist. from his 360. Redid the wiring for the msd setup. still no fire. I left the ballast and stock module hooked up. What am i missing.

When using a CD ignition. The ballast resistor is no longer used.

You have the ignition ON wired into a circuit that is only on during the key on position. You need it wired so you have power to it when ON and in CRANK position. Most circuits go dead, when the key is in CRANK position.

If you have a MSD box, distributor, and coil, you do nothing with the ballast resistor.

Did you check your small red wire to make sure it has power while cranking?
