Discontinued Magnum R/T Head #P5007140 vs P5155469 - 07/27/15 05:30 PM

We are trying to run an asphalt modified against a field of chevy spec motors with Dart Iron Eagle 200's. We have a lightweight bottom end vs the heavy chevys. My question is our rules only allow the Magnum R/T 7140 head that I cannot find anywhere. Mopar Performance came out with its replacement the P5155469. The problem is we are allowed 180cc head no modifications and the new head is 172cc. the old head was flowed at Shady Dell at 245@ 28in of water. Has anyone flowed these newer performance heads 5469? if im going to petition the tech inspectors to allow me to run the newer head we may have to change pistons to get to the rule 10:1 or cut the heads and manifold to fit. I know im looking for a needle in a haystack looking for the old R/T heads but Im looking.

Kinda hard to tell anything from the pics on the sellers websites. Some say AL some say iron, some look like stock magnums some look like an EQ so unless someone posts an actual picture it would be hard to determine what you really get.

I don`t know much about them but I got a Jegs sale email alert and it said they had a Magnum replacement head, I believe it said its a replacement for the discontinued M/P Magnum head. Maybe someone here knows more about them.

I saw that too. I believe those are the EQ (Enginequest) heads.

There is a pair in the for sale section right now, if I had any money I would have called the guy before telling you.

How come the Chevies can run an aftermarket head and you can't?? If it's a "cast iron" only rule then the RHS or EQ heads are the ticket. You can enhance the valve and VJ with the as supplied 1.92 intakes and flow just as well.

why because the modified division for affordability decided to go to w GM spec engine 12:1 with Dart Iron Eagle 200cc heads that flow 262 cfm with a heavy bottom end. the old chevy rules allowed an OEM replacement World Product head that was nothing special at 10:1. they stated that the spec head would set the bar. that left all other engines as a dying breed. very few could afford to rebuild a new spec engine but it did add to the car counts. now that the field is healthy they threw that "set the bar" out the window and now allow the old 10:1 chevy rule engine to bolt on the Dart Iron Eagles too and run at 11:1. Now the Mopar is a whole different animal. you have an unlimited crank weight rule like the old chevy rule engines, lightweight rods and pistons, bigger stroke, bigger lifters and bigger Cu. In. the last Mopar to run in the old rules could of won every week. to slow that down when they approved the Dart Iron Eagles they allowed the Mopar to run the R/T head at 1.925 intake valve and force the mopar to run the M-1 dual plane intake and 10:1 vs the chevy Edelbrock performer 7101. Im not sure what kind of power we are looking at but ive seen HP no.s on the dart iron eagles between 400-450hp. im hoping with more low end torque and less rpm needed we can get this motor on the dyno and see where we are at.

Im still looking for a set of these heads and have found a few sets that need 1.925 seats. So if you have one or two laying around or a set on a bad motor let me know. I don't have 25 posts yet to respond to private messages, still have a few to go still. so you can reach me at 732-539-6040. thanks for any help we get to get out there and get Mopar to the front of an all Chevy field.

Well its officially a dead issue now. Based on the chevy head and manifold rules we arent going to be able to make enough power with the Magnum R/T heads. So i sold the ultralight 365 short block and now im selling the rare Magnum R/T heads. PM message me if you want to buy them.
