Starter clearance for Mega Block w/ reactor

Well, I tried yesterday to mount my mini starter (actually two of them) to my Mega Block and found that the inside bolt for the solenoid hits the carve out area in the block, preventing the starter from mounting straight.
I pulled out a spare (Summit starter - new), and had the same issue with that one. Ended up having to put in a big ole stock mopar starter - fits fine, but is struggling mightily...
I remember having to space the starter way back when using the Reactor flexplate, but I don't remember having the clearance issue.
Anyone run across this before ?? Is there a race starter that will fit ? I don't think the factory Mopar one is long for this world at 14:1 !!!

I should have mentioned it's a JW ultrabell and a glide...

I can't speak to your exact combination of parts.........but I know on the mega-Block motor that I had, it took a LOT of grinding to make a Tilton starter work

That's what I was afraid of...

Same problem here. Had to grind the block, sanded the nut that attaches the bracket to the stud to make it thinner, shorten the copper stud and rebent the bracket that attaches to the stud.

There is a guy on the board here that makes a high output
starter that should work... his name is Rob Mccord or something
like that... maybe someone else will remember his name.. its a
clockable starter

Sounds like that would be the hot ticket.

I had no issue putting my little starter on my mega block, but it has a 727.

If you have room in front of your driver side header, get the Meziere starter. You can clock it and it spins over like no other.
I just bought one for the first time 2 weeks ago after I got my headers done.

Wow - That Meziere is pricey !! Think that's what I'll do though. It looks like that's the way to kill this problem, on to the next one. !

I have that Mc Robb one since I needed no offset to the starter motor to clear my headers, and I have his starter on another 505 Wedge engine I have and liked it a lot. It required grinding of the block in the circular area around it to get it in there.
