Get enough converter and the gears won't mess with you much. Ive been 11.18@120.5 with a stock stroke 340 and a 3.91 gear @3525 lbs so I won't be much help.

Mine is a 340 stroked to 394. I broke the gears I had and stuck some 3.50's in so I could race. I ran a 6.39 @ 109 in the 1/8 crossing the finish line in 2nd gear. That converts to a 10.09 1/4. Also running a 30 in. tall tire.2950lbs

Interesting question. I'm sure the converter spec is critical.

I'm kinda hoping for something similar, if I do a 4" crank 360. High 11's in 100% street trim with a 3.23 gear and 27" tall drag radial.

If you get the car light enough you can run a 2.90 gear OR
hang a turbo on it

With 450 pounds of TQ at 3K and up, yeah shouldn't be an issue.

10.0 @ 137(so far) with a 3.23 gear @3500lbs. You need a turbo, you won't regret it.

stock appearing street trim 71 demon with 26 or 28" drag radials, weight would be about 3,450 with me in it. I have a 4,400 stall already with the 360, I'm hoping a 426" stroker with a worked 6 pack manifold and my TTI's will get me 11.30 or 40's in summer driving it in the gate and just lowering rear tire psi!

If you don't end up going with a turbo, build as many cubes as you can, at least a 408. My current street car is a mild 500" big block, I installed 3.55 gears so I could drive it alot and I thought it would be a dog with those gears, it is not!! It feels so good with 275/60/15 tires that I'm considering 3.23 gears for next year. Right now I'm at 2800 RPM's at 60 mph.

If you're only shooting for 11's, just build a nice combo with cubes, good heads, and the right converter. I used to run 9's with 4.30 and 4.56 gears, now I just want to run 10's or 11's and be able to drive it alot.

One other thing that people never seem to use or think of
is a OD trans.. I set my DW car to run the 518 trans(because
they are cheaper) or you can use a GV OD... I use a set of 4.10
gears and a set of 295/55/15 tires... a 5000 stall because I had
it.. but this set up should run 10.0 and cruise at 75 mph at 2900 rpm

No doubt, I am definitely saving my pennies for a GV overdrive, just haven't been able to afford one yet.

Bob.. I just bought another 518 for my set up right before I
went into the hospital... it was $300... and I might use it as is..
this one is the early 2 pin 518 that DIDNT have lock up so its the
727 conv.... sure beats paying $3000 for the GV

Does a 518 bolt up without any tunnel mods?

71 demon about 3450lbs with me in it. Looks doable with 3.55. Maybe would go up to 3.73 since the expressway trips are usually under 40min.

Being realistic here... what is the car used for..
you could put the 3.55 and the low trans first gear

Mostly weekend cruising, few trips a year to the drag strip. The more I think it over the more I want a less radical engine cam and compression wise, hence the 426" or bigger SB.
