528 hemi cam install question ?

MP/ Ray Barton 528 Hemi.
Going to install new cam this summer. Assuming engine was built correctly and cam degreed, Balencer marking, pointer and cam and sprockets are marked correctly should I be worried about degreeing cam again if it is going to be installed straight up ?

If yes I guess i will have to make a tool for piston stop for degreeing cam and an air adapter to pressurize cylinder when I remove and install new valve springs.

Can anyone recommend a good valve spring compressor for doing them in car ?

I have seen two cams and or timing sets in the last two weeks that had the cams retarded 13 degrees in both motors There is no way I would change one part of the valve train drive or cam on a existing motor and not verify the cam lobe centers on the new cam or timing set, even if just changing the chain As far as changing the valve springs on the heads on the motor it depends if you have a stock rocker arm set up or the after market set up like bolt on Jesels or some other brand If stock I think LSM has a tool to use BTW, do you have a way of checking the valve spring pressures now and do you have a spec. on them when installed new? If not you may be shooting yourself in the foot by changing them

Two thoughts on this. First, I never assume anything on a hi performance engine. And second, I never install a cam or chain without degreeing them in, especially on a hi performance engine. Been burned too many times before I learned those lessons.

And using air pressure to hold valves is a bit risky for a couple of reasons. Have you thought about using plastic rope inserted into the cylinder through the plug hole, then rotate the piston up till it compresses the rope in the chamber and holding the valves. That's the way we do it. Simple and fairly foolproof. Unlike air.

if i remember correctly, mancini has a great tool for changing springs in the car. if not mancini, someone else will correct me, i'm sure!

Unless things have changed, Mancini doesn't have the valve spring tool available anymore.
