Who's ready for race season?

Who's ready for race season? - 03/31/15 03:02 PM

Who's ready for race season... As you can see I'm not quite ready yet!

I can't believe it snowed here this morning!

Eh... Just more patina on the paint I guess, and additional old car must smell from the leaking Windows. Lol

I don't know how you guys deal with the winters up there. Heck, we were crying about the heat racing at MATS in Vegas this weekend. Hope you get thawed out soon. Love that car And, to me there's no better smell than original 60's Mopar interior

Well, since you asked.

1) Machine shop isn't done with my short block yet.

2) Lenco has been working on my ST-1200 since before Thanksgiving so that particular car project is stalled.

3) We are looking forward to a week of 50's (high temp) and rain so more on the way for you.

Here is a picture of our convertible that we cleaned up and were cruising around in yesterday.

It's days like those that make me glad I left MI. As for if I'm ready, no. Waiting on some parts. Made a few minor changes to Heads, Valvetrain and Cam for my G3. Should be ready in a few weeks.

Not....Bit off more than I could chew, add hernia surgery to that, and I may not make it....at least with none of my junk. I need a hood, coil overs, push rods, convertor, dyno time. The hood is my biggest problem at the moment. Off on short term disability and I have not seen a single dime yet.

Going to have to run my engine builders 69 Hemi Barracuda instead....I like the wheelies it does, so that's a plus....

I cleaned out the mouse nest that was in the valley pan of my mud bogging truck. backed the second one into the shop to pull the small block out, the 512 is one Hughes order away from being finished was just hoping the Canadian dollar would smarten up.

Re: Who's ready for race season? - 03/31/15 04:18 PM

I decided to raise my Rampage up 1.25".. it was too
low for the trashed Mi roads... I had to cut the upper
strut mounts off and weld on some new brackets so the
strut pistons are in the right location.. sure did
like it setting low... I'll finish up tomorrow

Re: Who's ready for race season? - 03/31/15 04:40 PM

I haven’t touched the ’62 since it puked trans fluid all over the starting line at Norwalk.

Between getting the new turbo kits thing going, wife’s new job, and moving up the ladder here at Chrysler 4 times in the last 15 months, spring race prep time has been at a premium!!!

The only good thing is that I'm picking up the new tow vehicle today...

2015 Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi 4 x 4 Laramie Crew Cab!!!

So the tow vehicle is at least ready! LOL

I have to put a couple of tires on the trailer...change the oil in the race car...drain the coolant...and install a new TB solenoid. Then off to Richmond.

Thanks Mike! It will go down the track! Just with another driver in it. New front shocks and dropping about 200# off the car should help!

I sometimes wish that Florida had a longer "off-season"!

1) New engine for the Dart Sport on engine stand for several months.

2) Been wanting to check my ring & pinion for the last year.

3) Car needs new SS springs, but still working ok.

4) Needs front end alignment checked.

5) 2004 Dodge diesel dually w/135,000 miles still has original antifreeze, belt and hoses and I'd like to get the valves checked.

6) Been slowly working on an NHRA Stock Aspen wagon, but engine not ready and needs work to fit new fuel cell and weight box. Then testing for the first time with a TQ!

I went to Gainesville during the first weekend of Jan. and only won a couple of rounds.

IHRA divisional double header in Immokalee, FL in early Feb. Only won a few rounds but tied for 4th with 2 others in Div. 2 Stock.

Big footbrake race in Virginia couple of weeks ago, but only won a few rounds.

Super Chevy @ Palm Beach, FL. Southern Stock/Super Stock Association was invited to race there. Went a few rounds Sat. & won on Sunday.

Too much "stuff" going on in everyday life to do everything I need to even when I have a few weeks between races.

Getting there. Just finished rebuilding my clutch. Changing some clutch linkage stuff around. Also replaced heims in my 4 link bars and new bars.
Have spent a bunch of time redoing some trim. And still need new tires. Thinking I might try some MT's instead of my phoenix's.
Time flies.

Both the Jrs are just about ready. Didn't really need to do much to em this winter.

However, for the first time since 2011 it looks like I will be able to get my charger back out. Have a trip to Summit Racing planned for Thurs evening to get the rest of what we need to get everything ready and with any luck I can 3 of the 4 cars out for the spring warm up on the 18th.

Those big dumb wheelies are overrated! Sure they are fun, but expensive as well.

New Ron's fuel pump should be here in the next couple of days, drain antifreeze and fill with distilled water, nut and bolt everything underneath, tag truck and trailer, and finish Raceral's tranny for his Satellite when the rest of the parts come in. Getting the bug bad now that its warming up. Beep

Re: Who's ready for race season? - 04/01/15 03:00 AM

Engine is dummied in the new small tire car and I'm waiting on a call to deliver it to get headers made.

Checked main bearing clearance and installed the crank in my 408 today and got the thrust bearing clearance set. This one will be done this week and ready to go in my bracket car. I also dropped off the parts to get the assembly balanced for the 360 I am building for Matts Duster. Should be going together next week.

Re: Who's ready for race season? - 04/01/15 03:49 AM

I have Friday off. Putting the 64 on the hoist. Pulling the trans to inspect and adding a new super sprag. The stock 65 part has survived but now that the 60 ft has dropped into the 1.2X it's days are probably numbered especially w/o a LBA valve body. Going to pull the pan check the bearings. pop the rear end cover and inspect the gear. Hopefully the rest hangs together until the fall for a 300 pass freshen up.

Oh ya the Cummins needs a head gasket
