I can't drive across the continent and into a different country to dyno my engine. But I have to say your facebook posts are awesome thanks for sharing the engines you are building with us!

Re: Dyno Testing Discount For Moparts Members - 03/27/15 04:03 AM

For the benefit of anybody interested including me, I have some questions. Specifically what do you get for $500.
1)Are oil psi and temp, coolant temp, 8 egt's, vacuum and A/F ratio all included?
2)I have 2 4150's on a tunnel-ram, does that change the cost?
3)Can I use my ignition box, coil and fuel press regulator?
4)Do I get to use the dyno for 1 day for misc parts testing? e.g-carbs, headers, intakes?
5)I am using pump gas (93). Do you run out of a barrel or do I bring my own?

Re: Dyno Testing Discount For Moparts Members - 03/27/15 03:07 PM

Hi Sean, Here is what’s included.

You have the Dyno for the day 8:30 to 5:00 which includes hooking it up and taking it off. You could use our headers or yours. We don't have any Hemi or Sm Block Headers so you would have to bring your own for those.

We have :
L/R O2s
8 EGTs
Oil Press
Oil Temp
Coolant Temp
Vacuum
Fuel Press
BSFC
Full Weather Station

No extra charge for Tunnel Ram

Bring your own Fuel and we will weight it for SG

We are a VP Dealer if you need fuel

You can test parts and make as many pulls as you would like.

You will be doing the tuning and any parts swapping, we will be more than happy to offer any advice on tuning

As far as using your Ignition Box and Fuel Regulator we would prefer not to but that could be discussed. Our dyno is set up for Mopar and does not require a flywheel either.

For real? They offer a righteous deal and you want to nickel & dime it even further?

Re: Dyno Testing Discount For Moparts Members - 03/28/15 04:16 PM

I was just curious if it only takes me half a day to finish if I would have to pay for the whole day. I have a shop near me that does it that way. $500 for the day, but only change for what you use. didn't mean to offend anyone.

Looks like a nice setup Pete. I'll haul my dyno mule over some day for a spin.

While BEST may not be known for being cheap, this is CHEAP IMO. Look at it as an opportunity to learn to evolve your program. I'm not here much anymore but, I've seen a lot of your posts are about getting more from your parts combo. Look at Rick Ross's car as a good example, or Don Gentry's old Duster. Lots of different dyno's can give you lot of DIFFERENT numbers. For some, it's nice to know what the true ultimate potential of their motor is. Again, maybe it's a good opportunity to learn something.

I agree, but that's not the dyno i'm goin to. I have a shop 15 min. away with an engine dyno as well as a chassis dyno. i'v given up on getting the pump gas 408 into the 9's in a 3300# full interior car. my new program is in the works with reworked heads by Dwayne Welder to start and a full rebuild of the 408 to a 410 13.5-14:1 comp. and a regrind by bullet of the cam again. the best the 408 did was 10.35@130 in a street trim that could be driven most anywhere. just gonna put it in the 9's and sell the car. cant afford this hobby any longer.

I would save money that it sounds like you don't have, and sell it as a pump gas 10.30's car.
Probably worth as much, if not more than as a race gas 9.90 car that needs Full cage, cert, license, etc, etc. and is likely to appeal to a much narrower audience than the pump gas deal would.
If you want to go 9's throw a cheap 150 squirt on it. Best of both worlds.

Can you mount an engine on a dyno and do testing in 4 hours? You are very fast.

The dyno I deal with you drop off the engine the
day before for mounting

Re: Dyno Testing Discount For Moparts Members - 03/30/15 04:12 PM

you have to drop off ahead of time.

Re: Dyno Testing Discount For Moparts Members - 03/30/15 04:15 PM

my goal is to get it in the 9's n/a. then it gets a street bb or I sell it for a b body car with a bb. getting tired of wrenching on it more than I drive it.
