Restricting cam oiling on street engine? - 01/17/15 11:41 PM
Is it OK to drill a smaller hole in the cam bearing and line that one up intead of the big factory hole in order to get a little more to the crank? If yes how small to go?

I never seen a need for that, even on all out roller cam race motors oiling the rockers full time through the # 4 cam journal

I have ran .063 holes in the cam bearings with no problem, but I was not oiling the rockers though the block

Should have clarified it is a magnum so PR oiling. Just the bearing journal it self is going to get oil from that hole, nothing else.

In my round track engines I tape the oil hole from the main bearing to the cam bearings 5/16-18 and put an allen set screw in the center three mains. I drill the set screws with a .090 drill.

.030 on mine no need for all of that oil to the cam bearings. PR also.

More of a longevity/high miles, thing heavy load on the motor pretty much all the time. I have seen plenty of high miles stock engines spin crank bearings. I figure a tad more oil kept in the pan and a tad more to the crank bearings would help if it is not needed at the cam journal.
