2015 plans? - 12/18/14 07:33 PM

With the year almost gone what your plans for 2015? My beater is winterized and sitting in the garage. It won't need much to go. I hope to keep getting stronger so the docs will clear me to drive again. It sure has been a rough and bumpy road indeed!! Ya gotta take the good days and the bad. So let's hear what your plans are. Gonna step it up? Good luck everyone and have a great Holiday season! Ted

Re: 2015 plans? - 12/18/14 07:43 PM

I take it day to day here...63 Dodge has been sitting for over 2 years since I last ground on it...the 69 Z/28 Camaro has been at a standstill for a year since taking it apart...last year I had 3 surgeries that sucked totally..

this year my wife's Mom was diagnosed at stage IV cancer throughout her entire body...Becky is down in Florida taking care of her and her Dad....rough go..

and the hits keep coming

Hopefully the B1 headed, Alum. Indy block, 588c.i. engine will make it into the LeBaron in 2015. Another 200 HP under the hood will make it fun. The callies ultra I beam rods are on the brown truck for delivery today. Last major piece to the puzzle.

New rods for the motor, fix damage from wheelie. Take weight out of car, move existing weight forward in car. Rewire car it's just getting bad from adding on this and that through out the years. Hope to be out early summer.

Going to freshen up the 408 that was in the Duster for the last three years and update it some with a roller cam and some better flowing Edelbrock heads. Also building a high compression 408 roller cam engine that MAY have a set of the new Edelbrock Victor heads if they are ever released. I am also going to rebuild my 572 for some small tire racing in the new car if everything plays out as planned. Starting on the heads this week.

Well that's easy. We are moving to DC

One day this Air Force odyssey will end and we can live a more "normal" lifestyle. But for the next three years I will be splitting time between Vegas and DC and slowing getting the Stratus done if money allows.

chassis.. get back to work on my 38.. plus I'll put
my Harley back together... the wife and I want to do
some more traveling starting next year.... happy

Re: 2015 plans? - 12/18/14 08:38 PM

Going to try to test early in March or late in February at LVMS, I have some tuning to do and may even need a new converter. Then MATS, then divisional in April, then Spring Fling and back home to Salt Lake. Woodburn, OR. will be in the plans for their divisional, Mopar race, and big $$$ bracket race in July, then to the bracketeer in Boise, then home. I'm knocking on wood that the 604 Predator goes all season. I had it out in Salt Lake at the end of the year and it shows promise for what it is, and a new camshaft should be in the works for late next year and even possibly a dry sump. Boatracer 572 is putting another one together for me, (572 version Predator) as we speak. It will be a milder version and in my old World aluminum block my 572 B1/MC was in.

My plan was to take 2014 off of racing to work on the Road Runner as much as possible. I did that. Now I might just stay the course and continue that for 2015, and hopefully have the Road Runner in paint by summers end.

Also IF everything goes right I will be attending drag week as a passenger with HEMI Joel in his '31 Dodge Hot Rod.

I'm still trying to get to last winter's plan. Too much stuff and not enough room, time, $ to do anything lol. Tried to sell some stuff but no takers, so at some point I'll be getting a R5 I have together, but not set on what to do with it. Was thinking lately of putting it in a B body street car deal, not sure.

Re: 2015 plans? - 12/19/14 03:35 AM

After my car sat since 08 I spent most of the summer getting road worthy again. I had some cooling issues to sort out but since that is finally fixed, it's time to start enjoying the car more! I plan on driving it more and maybe some hits at the local track to see if the fogger works.

Hope all is well with you Ted, get though the heath issues and go enjoy yourself! Merry Christmas to you and a happy New Year!.

I can't say I have plans on this but I do have hopes.

My hope is that I can get My 71 and my wifes 72 back out to the track after sidelining them for the last couple years so we could afford to keep my daughters racing their Jrs.

With the new job, that is a remote possibility but at least now it IS a possibility.

Re: 2015 plans? - 12/19/14 05:42 AM

Well , the car has been shaken down and proved itself worthy of street duty.
So I will be hitting the track and trying to get it to hook first.....then trying to figure out which tweaks it wants to maximize the combination.
My gut tells me I am pretty close on the tune up and it goes straight and pulls like a draft horse once it is planted.
So getting it to launch , if you'll pardon the blue oval pun , is job one.

My goal is to run at least a 6.teen. Best I have run so far is a 6.29.I run 1/8 only. I upgraded my fuel system and went from a 950 to a 1050 Dominator.
And replace my new car trailer that was stolen last year. I drove to track this year and would rather haul it in case something happens.

G3 Hemis are cool, but NA seem a little low on HP for what I want. Probably still going to BGR to go this route.

Was considering a boosted one, but can't find any good examples of one. Would love to see one with a 4.0L whipple on it and what HP it makes...

Been eye-balling the used Indy G3 Hemi's, but 600hp is not going to do it.

It's taken me a lot longer to put my car back on the street than it did to make it a race car..That being said,I changed my combo a bit.. going with a tad more compression and less cam.NEW rods too.Still need to put in lower control arm bushings and a few other small things (mount new seats, wire in turn signals/brake lamps)Then I can run this thing at the track and see what it will do,and make sure its ready to drive on the street with no problems.

No real big changes in the car this winter, except for a new lexan windshield to replace the old scratched 15 year old one and freshened the E85 carb and installed the super victor intake back on,,,I did purchase a new LM-2 a/f meter and will attempt to get this system dialed in the right way instead of the hit or miss system that I have used for years with limited success.

NOW yer talkin................If you have any hair now get used to a few patches missing when you start tuning cos it never ends.

Ted

Besides trying to make my race car more consistent, gotta get a lick in to this.

I like that.. what is it... I have to get back to
work on my 38 Ply

Hey Mike, Chopped / channeled 33 Plymouth coupe.

hair is mostly gone from life's little trials and tribulations so the only thing I have to be careful about is the bruises from banging my head against the wall, as for the lm2, i freaked out when I got on the web site to download the instruction manual and realizes that I needed to go to Staples and buy a ream of paper and some spare ink cartridges,, 53 pages I think.

Charley,,I got the car pretty well where I want it, so the only thing's I need to do is go back and fix a few things here and there, the old girl is getting a little rough around the edges and I cannot afford to build a new one

run some Q16 races and some Midwest top sportsman races. we haven't had the car out in two years so I'm looking forward to getting it out. I still need to put the motor and trans back in the car and send the wheels out to have the bead locks installed.

Carbon frontend, carbon doors, fiberglass dash, engine going to Bennett for a freshening and dyno time! Tranny is getting a full refresh and possibly a new low gear set. And finally we will dyno it with different turbos to see which one makes the most power on the P5! Also may put on a set of 17" front wheels.

Well...got laid off in Oct after 28 years with the company (over 55, white, with no engineering degree, what...me bitter? ), so I need to find a job. Bought a bunch of stuff so now I need to sell a bunch of stuff lol. GTX is running and driving with no body panels installed so I need to get those finished and installed, would like to make some shows with it in 2015. Also, if time and money allow, I have a Duster stored in the back of the shop that I would really like to build into a Super Street/bracket car just to scratch the old racing itch.
