Are you talking these for the flare?

Or these for the fitting to pan?

nope, somebody machines solid aluminum washers with O-rings that seal the fittins for external oil lines with swinging or static pick ups.

That is the bottom link. I used the -12 for my 3/4" lines...
I have a bunch if I can find them......and drop them into an envelope for you.

Doty washers. I bought several sets years ago so I didn't have to search for them every time I needed a set.

Yes, all or most of the AN fittings company's offers them. I'm pretty summit and those places sell them.

Then there's a cool racing hardware store right near the Raceway Park in Indy, on the corner almost. Just down the street from Bruce Litton trailers. I always made a point to stop there and stock up on hard to find hardware like these.

I cannot find the ones I use....They are a big aluminum washer with a groove for an o-ring and it came with them...Put that washer with o-ring under the bulkhead nut and snug it...Totally leak free....Can't find them though...Mayb e I will draw one up in Solid Works tomorrow if I have time...

Sorry this is the best picture I have.
I used some large metal washers and cut a piece of our gasket material to fit and seal.

Been that way 7 years? So I guess it's working

guys i'll make a bunch of these tomorrow. just tell me what id hole is needed for the fittings your running. I've got plenty of material on the shelf and lots of o rings in stock. I'm sure I can piece something together to get you going. aluminum disc with o ring groove and o ring. no problem.

And if you don't use thread sealant on the pickup fittings, all the fancy washers in the world won't seal the leaks.

Why buy them when we can have someone spend a few hours building them.....

Re: aluminum sealing washers 4 external oil pan lines? - 12/08/14 04:38 PM

I know not all have access to a lathe but, I machine a receiver groove for an o ring in the face of -12 coupler or bulkhead fitting. Then use the appropriate size O-ring from the 8 dollar Harbor Freight o-ring kit. Seals against outside of pan. No leaks ever...You may be able to buy like this but, the only ones I see have the o-ring recessed into the threads where it wouldn't seem to be as effective for this.

Re: aluminum sealing washers 4 external oil pan lines? - 12/08/14 04:40 PM

that fitting is already designed with an o ring groove. you need a special o ring to seal it. the washers that I'm making will have the pocket to use this o ring on one side and a groove for an o ring on the other. i'll post a pic after lunch so everyone gets it.

I machine the groove so the o ring stays more on the face and doesn't get squished toward the center where it might get cut easier by the edge of the hole cut in the pan...at least that's what I was thinking the first time I did it and couldn't find the o-ringed washers locally the day I needed them...

Re: aluminum sealing washers 4 external oil pan lines? - 12/08/14 06:55 PM

The pickups have an o-ring recess in them. You put the fitting through the hole in the pan, you slip the o-ring over the fitting, you smear pipe sealant on the threads of the fitting, you screw the fitting into the pickup. No fancy washers and no leaks.

But if ya wanna waste time and money ...

I couldn't ever find those to fit the -12 fittings, they didn't go that big and I tried several suppliers. Well one said they made them but would have to buy a box of 100 and weren't going to do that unless I wanted to buy the box so I went with the seals that PittsburgeRacer is showing from DTI. (i'm trying to look up their contact or Website but not finding them)

Earl's doesn't carry -12 either, they stop at -8 or -10 but don't have for -12 or i would have went with the Stat-o-seals.

Check out my post asking about these earlier this year, if this link doesn't work, I bumped my old post so it would be on the front page.

It has the info for Doty for those seals.

sorry got busy at the shop. the prototypes are done but I didn't get a chance to take pics today. I'll have them posted in the am tomorrow and then will start taking orders for them. the first set I designed to be a -12 but -16 and -24 and -10 could be available if there is interest.

also if anyone is interested I made a weld in port for the -12 fitting since I have all the porting tools in the shop. the weld in bung is threaded and has the o ring groove already so you just screw in your fitting. these can be aluminum or steel. let me know your thoughts.

here are the washers, in the kit you'll get two sealing washers and 4 o rings. the -12 washers will be $15.00 for the pair.

we did our best to make the washers as small as possible and they use standard off the shelf o rings.

Re: aluminum sealing washers 4 external oil pan lines? - 12/10/14 10:31 PM

its a little hard to see as the pic is a little blurry but on the side away from the fitting there is a groove for an oring. the o ring seals against the oil pan wall. on the fitting side of the washer there is a special port groove for use with the o ring on AN-12 style port fittings, which is what all the earls and aeroquip fittings are designed around.

these could even be used on both sides of the pan to seal a bulk head extra assurance. so you'd have fitting, washer, oil pan wall, washer and then lock nut. if its still unclear i'll post up a drawing later.

Unfortunately we could never get these to work, they never fit flush due to the strengthening ribs on the pan. Pan is a dual line Milodon Super stock style with hole for the tie rod BTW. They may work on others of course.
Used dowty washers in the end

Re: aluminum sealing washers 4 external oil pan lines? - 12/13/14 06:55 PM

Find an industrial supplier. Looked at Summit's pricing and their pricing is almost criminal.

P/N: 600-0101-3/4 or NAS1523-12 should be able to find for about $2.50ea or less. They are the seals designed for bulkhead applications.

The metal cup and o-ring shown above already made by Parker as the 800 series Lock-O-Seal. Made for applications that allow trying/changing o-ring compounds.

Check hoseandfittings.com for the 600 series (thats where I got $2 price from) or aerospace parts dist for the NAS series.
