SCSN in Las Vegas check in Nov20-23 - 11/15/14 09:04 AM

We just booked our hotel and will be spectating... Who else is going to be there? and will you be spectating or racing? If racing, post a pic of your car so we all know who's who..

Car is still at chassis shop so I'm on the spectator list. We're pulling Dave's camper up and hopefully we'll be able to fit the golf cart in his pickup.

Should be there as spectators as well. I think I met you guys briefly at MATS this year and ejoyed reading the "love my mopar family" post. This should make our 10th year at SCSN. We call it "MANCATION". The last couple years we have been renting a 30 foot RV from Cruise America there and driving it to the track. Last year it was only $268.00 "out the door" for 4 nights. Thought it was pretty cheap. This year it may only be me and a buddy from Boise so might grab a hotel.

I will be there, just not racing. I have crew chief duties on a HS car but our dragster will be there running with Curtis wheelin it and will be helping a buddy get a new combo sorted out as well. So I'll be busy but as usual we will have adult beverages a flowing.

Was considering bringing the Valiant up to run triple index, but I hurt the 904 at WHP yesterday. Darryl and I will be there Friday morning to watch all the carnage just the same though.

Who got stuck in the I-15 zoo heading back into California? We did !!

It took us a good 4 hours to get the last 15 miles to stateline and even did a little 4x4 in the desert to avoid the back up... We left the track at 1:30p, the Dolphins/Broncos game just kicked off and you gotta love satelite radio for just that reason..

The game was long over before we reached stateline and we read there was a dead body dumped 1 mile into Calif that closed the freeway.. We didnt get home until 2:30 this morning...

Oh yeah.. there was some pretty good racing going on.. Someone we know and we wont say names (Curtis... afxcoronet) got his 7 second time slip and went deep into the rounds..

With the exception of the traffic and Dolphins losing, it was a great weekend !!

I was wondering what the hold up was. Left bass pro around 10am and hit stopped traffic at Gold strike casino then took about an hour to get to Primm. Sounds like I was lucky. After that it was smooth sailing all the way to Fresno. Always good times at SCSN. We'll be back with cars for MATS

Yeah, it was down to one lane just past Primm with about 15 CHP off to the side. And dang it, I had a list of stuff to get before leaving Nevada but didn't get any of it

- couple cases of brake cleaner "that actually cleans".
- few cans of 134a that doesnt require a 10.00 deposit per can!
- gas cans without the worthless no spill safety spouts that spills every time.
- and a 49 State, Non-California emissions Echo weed eater....I can hear it now, stopped at the checkpoint..."Sir, step out of the vehicle, you know transporting outta state gasoline powered lawn equipment across state lines is a punishable offence".....they'd probably arrest me

I think if I had to face that gauntlet everytime I attempted to leave Vegas.... I'd opt for the long way.... NV 95 south to the 40 and then west to Barstow..... yeah it would suck, but at least your moving!

This last Sunday was worse than any normal Sunday leaving Vegas...

Re: SCSN in Las Vegas check in Nov20-23 - 11/25/14 07:25 AM

others may correct me if I'm wrong.....but Mopar is dead... or at least at SCSN. Deans "go green" Barracuda was the shining 1% with his outlaw 10.5 car. The rest were in the bracket classes including a 68 Valiant, 70 Barracuda, a new Challenger and Magnum wagon. That was it...a handfull. Sure there were some "mopar" powered rides, the most authentic was most likely Al's pipe rack with it's mopar mega block and Indy top side. A bit disappointing, but expected in the advanced world of turbo's and good parts and chassis selection.

....now if I could only get the idea out of my head of shoving a plate under the carb, buying some beadlocks and 8.5 tires and try to crack into that 32 car field....

I might have been tempted to go to Pahrump off the 15 in Las Vegas and then into and through Death Valley to Hwy 14 or 395 and then down into either L.A. or up to Bakerspatch through Techapi Moving is better than sitting and creaping IMO, especially if you haven't seen that(Pahrump,Death Valley) area before

That was the problem Cab... nothing was announced.. We got about 15 miles from stateline before we knew there was any kind of problem.. and then it was too late to turn around..

I like your suggestion.. anything would have been better... even going north and making a left in Reno...
