External oiling, when to?

External oiling, when to? - 09/05/14 08:19 AM

So I've read various BBM/Hemi books and the general consensus on making the switch to external oiling (other than for clearance reasons) is in the 7000 plus rpm range and lots of strip use. Curious to hear some experience both ways on the subject. Building a 500ish cube Hemi that should see less than 7500 and mostly street driven but thinking single line external to be on the safe side. It will be driven hard, IE not a show car. Positive, tech related discussion on the topic?

Additionally, anyone have pics of an external setup on a hemi with stock k-frame and manifolds?

Thanks,
Chad

Not needed on a street car in my opinion - just make sure all the stock passages are open fully in your block

Running the line/cover around the mounts and dealing with potential leaks at the fittings and a occasional loss of prime isn't worth it for a street car.
