Re: B1 COMBOS - 07/22/14 07:10 AM

Mine was a stock block making around 850 hp or so. 12.5-1 2 1/8th headers untill I could make a bigger set. 797/816 lift turning 8k with aluminum rods and a girdle.

Now I am doing an aluminum block 15-1 comp advanced to 112 c/l 114 lobe sep. instead of 114 with 2 3/8th chassis headers 4.5 x 4.5 engine. I will be done with it in about a month from now. I did some chassis changes , and also need new slicks. Last time out, with the stock block engine, I went a 1.56 60' 6.17 1/8 at 121 mph. that was an intersting run. I plan on shifting somewhere around 7600 or less. no dyno time just tuning it by track times is all.

Just curious but what`s w/all of these wide lsa`s...........is it to take advantage of the upper rpm capabilities?

Re: B1 COMBOS - 07/22/14 06:25 PM

I don't know what cam is in the KOS 499 but that thing will rev - and rev right now! .900 lift. I think the heads are B1MC not PSO judging from what Monte said a PSO head looks like.

Like MoparAl's, the headers are also interesting.

I freed my mind years ago on mushrooms petting Mojave rattlesnakes............So, it must have something to do with the broad rpm range yes?

I looked at four different grinds recommended for my combo with 2 at 110 LSA and 2 at 112 LSA. The lobe separation got wider to accommodate the longer exhaust durations of the cams with the 112 LSA. On all four cams the intake closing point was close to the same, the overlap was close to the same with the exhaust closing and intake opening being close to the same. The difference was the exhaust opening point. The more exhaust duration, the wider the LSA to keep three out of four of the valve events in about the same spot.

Re: B1 COMBOS - 07/23/14 05:31 AM

B1 pistons will have DEEP notches. Also the notches are centered on the bore. You can also measure the dia. of the valve pockets Should be 2.400 and 1.900 or close to it. The best way to check is mock it up.

Re: B1 COMBOS - 07/23/14 03:09 PM

At one time B1s sold thru Mopar Performance and had a Mopar PN. I imagine that's the old PN.

Re: B1 COMBOS - 07/23/14 03:13 PM

I would check out the list #s on the carbs. If they say S&M they are likely individual runner carbs. Calibrated very differently than a plenum style carb.

605 world block b1 heads little porting to them. Comp cam speced by Chuck at best machine for my old 512. Could probably use a different cam. Something like i think .813 lift 308 duration and installed at 112. Prosystems 1050. And way small 2" fenderwell headers. Haven't found a set of headers yet. dynoed at 965 hp and I believe 845 tq.

To bad they aren't 4.500.

Re: B1 COMBOS - 08/10/14 06:24 PM

I would not use anyone but CP for pistons, for anything! They have the chamber profile for my MC's so we get exactly what we want.

Yeah when I had my W-9 pistons made I had to send them
a head to profile since they didnt have a W-9 on file..
they make some nice stuff
EDIT
they paid the shipping for the head both ways

4.500 X 4.500 572 World aluminum block, B1/MC heads, 1870#'s with driver, mid 800 lift cam, 112 lobe sep., 16-1 compression, vacuum pump. No dyno numbers, went 7.26 at 3100 ft corrected with little tuning and the wrong gear. Hope this helps.

yes

its a 446 ci

block could go to a 4.375 bore ,its just a core
stock crank crower rods
don't know whos pistons
milidon duel oiling system with dragster oilpan

the short block will be up for sale

cant use these parts , but it will fund money to get the heads fixed and parts to compete them
lunati roller cam its rusted /damaged

I got my B1 572 running now, but hadn't taken it to the track yet. I still am having another set of headers made for it. I put my 2 1/8th chassis headers back on to start it up. Are you going to get an aftermarket block? What bore?
