South Mountain Dragway/Carlisle - 07/02/14 06:12 PM

I have just been informed that MOPAR day at the track will be on Sunday, not Friday.Carlisle has created an autocross track with thier event being held on Friday. So,,,,,,South Mountain will will open their gates at 8 AM for a full day of racing at this historic track. We all normally pack up and go home early on Sunday,BUT not this year.Hope to see you all there on Sunday!!!! I am real happy about the new ownership and ALL the improvements that have been made with alot of new pavement so there is not so much "gravel"

See ya there!!

Man that stinks I was already to come and race my D 150 Friday, we have an index race at Etown that Sunday. Might come down for Friday since I already took off from work plus I am introducing a nephew to the world of Mopars ( he has a new V6 Chally ) and he wants to come experience Carlisle.

I was looking forward to the drags on Friday night myself, always a fun time. Hope they have it back on Friday next year, just seems like the right time.

They will be competing with the York/Nostalgia race at Beaver Springs on Sunday as well. Might be tough to get a good turn out on that day. Hope it works out for them.

Anyone have any pull with new owners to keep Friday schedule for racing. The autocross thing at Carlisle is usually a big flop. People want to see drag racing! We've been at Fri. event before when they had autocross and never conflicted. We race at Beaver Nostalgia on Sunday. Sure wish they'd do Friday !

Re: South Mountain Dragway/Carlisle - 07/03/14 02:21 PM

This year, the the auto=X was already in concrete as South Mountain was closed ,so this is all kinda last minute.I'm gunna pass on the Beaver to hang at this track. There are many people that do not go to the Beaver and normally head home after breakfast, now there is a reason not to go home yet. Stock tire????Too new for NSS,come to South Mountain for a day of drag racing and family fun!!!

Re: South Mountain Dragway/Carlisle - 07/03/14 10:47 PM

Thanks Al,As usual you are right on top of things. Because the track was closed up till now there was not going to be any drag racing for Chryslers @ Carlisle for 2014. The good folks at Carlisle wanted to have some type of motorsports so they did the most logical thing with having a motorcross event,Next year it will go back to Friday's. I want the Mopar guys at Carlisle to know that they are more than welcome to come out Sunday July 13 and race! The track will open up at 9:30AM with Time Trials to Start at 10:30AM.The track is only ten minutes from the Carlisle show grounds,so lets get those Mopar Ground Pounders out there and show what those cars were built to do.Thanks again Top Fuel Tony

Re: South Mountain Dragway/Carlisle - 07/04/14 02:38 AM

It would be great if the owner of South mountain would chime in here. The website says open on 7-13-14 @ 8 am, time trials @ 10:30 race @ 2! Carlisle autocross race is limited to 10 cars! The new owner should have right to schedule race when he wants according to township rules. The only thing I new that carlisle provided was a shuttle for people.I'm sure they did some other things but the crowds at the races were great! Many times u ask Carlisle employees they new nothing about racing and said call track! I now have to inform 2 mopar drag racers that came to past races only that it's been changed to sunday. We all go to and race at Beaver Nostalgia. South Mountain was always a nice warmup! Oh well, see what happens next yr.

I have been to the BEAVER It's a fantastic part of the York Reunion!! But not everyone goes to the Beaver. For you guys & gals, especially with kids the grassy knoll is a great spot to lay your blanket & picnic basket I'll be there with a small group of friends for a laid back day, make a few passes and break out some skirt steaks

So it's a NO GO for both this Friday and Sunday, correct?

If so, then leave it to Beaver will be the haunt.
Bummer for those who were planning on runnin'but better to get it right the first time than to have a host of unhappy campers.

yup im one I just found this out NOW 7/10/14 we were leaving tomorrow Friday AM and were looking forward to good weather finally and the drags. Its normally a MAJOR part of why we even bother going. now we will have to try to find something else to do..can say this was a major shot to my plans...been doing Friday till around 2pm looking around at the fairgrounds....going a 2pm to eat and maybe hit the pool at the hotel for a hour to cool down...then hitting the drags at 5pm or so....and then going back and finishing up things on Sat normally leave between 2-3pm...VERY disappointed in this...Fariground was great when I was actively looking for parts in the swap meet..but now that im not..the drags had turned out to be the "main event" and most fun...guess not anymore.
